Ladies do me a favour.
Im looking to surprise my beloved with a nice gift.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't know - I've never had one sad
Depending on how much you love her, you couldn't go wrong with a bit of jewellery plus ALL women like to get flowers wink

Take her out for a slap up meal or a night at the films. Something intimate and cosy

You know what, I'm going to be a party pooper and say, pfft! Valentine Shmalentine! :silly:
Seriously though, I'm not knocking all you romantic souls, but I get really embarassed by Valentine's Day, I can't be doing with all this hearts n flowers malarkey. Don't get me wrong I like romance, but in it's place and when it's thought of not when it's pushed on someone.
If and that's a big 'if' (sos Jay wink ) Jay gets me flowers, he gets them from the heart because he wants to and they mean more to me than any over priced, overrated mega bunch of roses.
We exchange cards but that's it and as for romantic dining, yeah we'll do it, but on Sunday when it's about us two and we're not surrounded by couples gazing into each others eyes, whispering sweet nothings.
I was in Tesco yesterday, and there was a full aisle dedicated to the 'big day'. Plastic/glass rose petals to be strewn on the bed I guess, heart shaped teeny candle things, heart this, heart that... what a rip off! lol
I've killed the thread haven't I??? bolt
Um, sorry Ben, in answer to your question.... how about an afternoon just for the two of you... lunch, a stroll in the park, a DVD, wine, cuddles and ....
That's the 'anti' Valentiner's suggestion anyway! wink
~Enjoy whatever you decide!
One of my best ever valentine's presents was a book by a favourite author, with a lovely inscription on the frontispiece. Lasting so much longer than the flowers that came with it, is a pleasure that can oft be repeated and returned to and is always on my shelf to remind me...

Oooooh to choose a pressie :rose:
Really does depend on how much you want to spend tho Ben.
If you don't want to go down the flowers n chocs route (which would do me just fine, Hotel Chocolat (Oi! David!!!!!) ) please, or aren't I supposed to choose? confused Hotel chocolat that is, West Quay downstairs on the left just ahead of the esculator, little place, big selection, anything at all, or one of each cool
Anyway, back to you Ben. How about a ............ ummmmmmm
Yeh, how about aaaaaaa
Blast, mind is stuck on Hotel Chocolat now mmmmmmm, can't think of anything else :? :? :?
Did think of something good, it will come back to me, hang on .....
Was a choice of cheap, mid priced and expensive, what the bluddy ell was it :?
Nope - it's gone :undecided:
Damn, now you're no better off than when I pressed the reply button :? Can't think of what it was :? Couldn't of been that good :lol2:
Seriously... the best valentine I ever got was a homemade one. I make cards and stuff and the guy I was seeing decided he could do that... no bother. It was, absolutely without doubt, worth so much more than nipping into a shop and picking one up. It said everything and more.
Flowers, although lovely, they're a big ass waste of money at Valentines.
Stick some romance into it. Put a bit of nonsense into his/her day and arrange to do something different. The fact that you've put some thought into it rather than spent a fortune that you don't have should mean so much more.
The thought is absolutely what's important to me.

Something you aren't telling us?
For Valentines:
Money = Nothing
Effort = Everything
Something, anything, carefully selected with her in mind.
Something silly and personal to you two alone.
A day of you pampering her with a few favourite things from Body Shop (ok a bit of money there I admit).
I'm not really knocking flowers and chocolates but it's damned hard to make them seem personal when everyone else seems to be doing the same thing.
I have requested an ice scraper for my car if he's going to get me something, so I don't suppose I'd be the best person to ask about gifts? :uhoh:
How about a jewellery or something personalised? Make something? Bake a cake and ice it with your names on the top?
Told you I was a bit crap at this!
Ive got an old woolworths gift token around here somewhere....

Go aroun to her gaf very very early, cover her car in flowers, break in and cook her breakfast then ensure she is not more that 2 feet away from you the whole day.
Then sit back and await the restraining order  :silly: :bounce:

I am going to show this post to Mike!
Something lasting and personal, sounds wonderful!
Oh Valentines the totally commercial day of the year designed for Thorntons (other good choc shops are available) and florists to increase their prices 2 fold and in some cases where roses are concerned (the flower not the choc) 10 fold.
Why do we need one day of the year to spoil our loved one with gifts and tell them we love them?
Surely this should be an everyday event and not just an excuse for shops to make copious amounts of money from tatt.
I personally buy my loved one flowers on a regular occasion, jewelery often (cos i want to, not cos i have to) and please can someone explain to me why chocs are romantic (unless of course its smothered all over her body to be licked off)?
Saying that and rant over, if you feel you need to do something to "prove" your love do something special that is different, something with thought or hard work put into it and not just a trip to the florists or Asda, get your apron on and cook a special meal from scratch, maybe cook all her/his favourites, write them a song or a poem, what i am saying is do something unique that is from the heart and not something a trip to the shops with the herd can solve.
Roses are a good idea, but get a rose bush to plant in the garden then you never have to buy her them again lol
