Apparently normal condoms usually contain a milk protein called casein. Being a vegan myself, I'm planning to stock up on some. But I was wondering has anybody got experience using vegan condoms? I'm interested in brand recommendations, and if they function as well as traditional ones.
Welcome to the forums jj1981 wave
I haven't got a clue about vegan condoms but hopefully someone will pop by and post more than a hello redface
Condomi do one. I don't know if they're freely available in the usual condommy places. You used to be able to buy them from the Vegan Soc web site but it's a long time since I've looked there.
It's the only vegan condom I've experienced so I have nothing to compare it with - and am no longer vegan anyway!
Happy shopping etc.
Hello to you too! biggrin
I've ordered a 100 loose bulk pack of condomi ones for £18 inc pp. Which will probably last me for a few years at least!
Thanks for the advice smile

Hi JJ... welcome to the forums. Gosh, I learn something new or surprising almost every day I use this place!
 Nola x
Is veganism really that complicated??!! What about leather shoes, belts, wallets etc? How about cardboard boxes? The glue used in them has an ingredient derived from animal urine. It must be very hard to know what you can and can't morally use?

Vegetarianism is hard enough! My daughter is vegetarian and we have to inspect the labels on everything.

Good lord!!! I'm what I call "a secondary vegetarian" - the cow eats the grass, I eat the cow!!!

Well we just cut out the middle man (or beast) saving the planet in the process! You know - I eat one portion of grain, you eat one portion of cow that has eaten thousands of portions of grain etc etc - my vegan propaganda's a little rusty. ;)

I check a lot of labels!
After while you learn what products you can eat. But then sometimes a recipe changes and you don't notice until you take a product out of the cupboard.
When I became vegan my diet was the first thing to change. Everything else I just kept using until it wore out, then I replaced it with a vegan alternative.
When choosing what products to use I generally base my decisions on advice from the Internet and packaging.
By the way, condoms don't actually contain the casein; it's used in the manufacturing process.
A bit like why wine isn't vegetarian - bits of fish used in the process!

And one brand of lager is now not vegetarian - because they use fish bits to filter it!
back in my vegan days I had some Condomi condoms JJ1981, and had no trouble with them at all.... of course, I never used them except in my career as a mule, but all the same, no trouble whatsoever.
