Last night I went to see Velvet Revolver and I hacve got to say that it was quite possibly the greatest night of my life.........this band are just out of this world. I will be able to tell my grand children that I have seen the likes of Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and the legendary Slash perform live, not to mention the incredible performance by Scott Weiland. I hope Iam not ranting on but it was just too good for words especially when they played some of the old guns n roses songs including Mr Brownstone and Its so easy........whoah.
I also met a lovely lady as well. Haahaa.......lucky me! :smoke:
Id like to see them too, maybe i hope soon.
Not sure about them really - got the album and theres a few good tracks. But Scott Weiland is no match for Axl Rose - Sure Axl is a certified loon but he was still one of the greatest voices in rock.
Man I wish the ex gunners would reunite so we get the real thing sad
I much prefer Scott Weiland to Axl Rose as I was a Stone Temple Pilots fan but didn't care so much for GnR. I do like Velvet Revolver's album but it's still a bit too GnR sounding for me to love it!
If you guys like this stuff, you might want to try Tool or A Perfect Circle (same singer for both) - fantastic bands! biggrin
Silky is simultaneously wildly jealous and spittin angry at anyone saying anything the tiniest bit negative about Axl . GnR are amongst our hall of Silk n G fame and Child O Mine our song with perhaps the most perfect lyrics for a rock ballad ever.
Were sure Velvet Revolver are quite amazing and would love to see them live but would both shoot and crawl over any replacements bodies in order to see the original GnR play live .
Lucky You glad you loved it .

You can't beat the real thing though...
I saw Guns 'N' Roses (supported by Faster Pussycat) at Manchester Apollo in 1987 !!
God, how old am I !!!smile
Got to agree with Serendipity about Tool though...brilliant band. If you like them, you should try Porcupine Tree too...a little more 'English' but very good

Tool are a given where musical brilliance is concerned but I'm glad to see Porcupine Tree get a mention - Steve Wilson is a genius !
Have to agree Tool are one of the best and most integral bands around. But also check out the Mars Volta if you like off the wall psychedelic latin metal! Groundbreaking!

I was just going to hang around the forum a bit before posting but couldn't resist this one biggrin I saw Faster Pussycat in 1989, Brent Muscat was an absolute honey and according to a groupie friend he still is!
Perfect soundtrack for fast, sleazy fucking:
Appetite For Destruction - GnR, followed by Contraband - Velvet Revolver.
Maybe a bit of Nine Inch Nails for experimental stuff.
