View of France but what is it?

hi all, I was down my local beach relaxing as you do, when a friend pointed out you can quite easily see France. which is about 26 miles from us.
As we looked along their coast, we noticed a big white(ish) building. He thought it was a power station, but i cant seem to find anything about it.
This is probably a really stupid post, but im intrigued and thought id ask all you knowledgable people.
oh, im about 8 miles pompey side of Worthing in Sussex, but i think you should be able to see it from most of the coast here.

It was probably Eagerslut, they must've built a new layby in the sea :grin:

That wasn't a building that was the superstructure of a large (probably container) ship. It's a lot further than that to the coast of France from this neck of the woods.

Depending on whether you're using your own eyes or a set of binos....... it could be an oil refinery........
But then again.... my geography is crap.... i even had to look up where you are as i've never heard of it....!!!!!!!!

How long did your power station stay there for?
If it moved then I would suggest it was a ship.
