Avast is pretty good- oh, and he might help :borg:
try i find it useful and its free so bonus
whichever one you go for, make sure you uninstall mcrappy. Anti virus's don't like living together
Prevention is better than cure sadly but you can try these common ones
Spybot search and destroy:
You can run this as well as your antivirus as well as set it to scan monitor your system
You can also try the free version of Super snti spyware:
I do highly recommend Spybot but it does take some time to run a full scan. If you are impatient you could try the free version of Advanced system care. Not as good but very quick.
spybot look for different things to mcrappy
try and download the free edition, been running it for several years now and can recommend it
try looking for this in your ad and remove programs
go to Add/Remove programs
look for a program called FAVORIT
If it's there, remove it
it may be problem solved
it would also help if you said firefox or explorer and also your operating system
by the way i use the free versions of nod32 and outpost firewall ive had very little trouble from viruses and trojans but i do format my system every so often
i do use a firewall more than i do use a anti virus most of the time its not installed at all on my systems but i am more familier with windows task manager in processes so i can see if i get something that dosnt belong in there
Avast is excellent for a freebie and I use avg as an extra scan. Avoid Norton like the plague! It will slow your pc down to snail speed!
Search for malwarebytes totally free and great for removing spyware which is what you have caught!

i need a free one. i run McCrappy and i have a virus i think anyway. something is making my comp very very slow and i have a program that tries to link to a site called favorit (no e on the end). i've stopped it gaining access to the net but i can't find the program that is running it. i want a program that is safe, free and will find and kill the bugga without subscription charges.
i did try using the search button but it wasn't playing. any ideas anyone?
thank you

Combofix (google it) it's a one shot deal that cleans up damn near everything.
SuperAntiSpyware is the best by a long shot and a free version is available, followed closely by Malwarebytes, would highly recommend the first as the latter has a bad habit of removing important files on some occasions.
Oh I do like the name "McCrappy" - nice one. I've had problems with them too and my subscription is due soon. Mind you, I changed from "Snorton", who were even worse, a few years ago.
Plim lol
burn it!

If you already have malware this... ....I've found is very useful As for getting rid of mcrappy or norton or anything else I've found this... very useful....(first thing I do on any P.C. is install revo)
Most of the proper spyware on the net goes out of its way to stop you repairing the puter. If you can get your photos etc off and onto a stick I suggest you do it now. If you do any sort of online banking etc then I wouldn't hesitate to reach for the recovery disk and just wipe it.....it's the only way to be sure.
As for Mc coffee antivirus we have been running their internet security for 3 years and had no problems yet.....
Avast is supposed to be the best free one around currently....
Best of luck smile

Suggestion
When you have your new antivirus up and running remember that most of the recent viruses aim to disable your antivirus from finding them. Disconnect your broadband or internet connection. Re-start your computer in "Safe mode" which stops all the auto-start programs from running (hopefully including your virus) and then MANUALLY start a scan with your new AV (configured to auto quarantine suspect files without stopping to ask) and then leave it running, maybe overnight.
One thing to remember when doing a full scan for a virus whatever your antivirus, turn your restore point off because if it's been missed by an existing scan it could be hiding in files in your restore points. A full scan will then check everything on your pc, once complete and all trojans...add ware and virus will be removed and you can turn it back on.
I usually use avg but a couple of years ago it didnt detect a virus i was sent through messenger so i downloaded a free nortons off google and it found the virus and removed it.
