firstly... ive got to say that the email address thing is a winner........... its a tried and tested method believe it or not... and it works.......a great ice breaker in the long term... and it gives the appearance that u are different...........
It gives the impression that you are a sad computer nerd who spends their life down-loading porn... in the real world people still use phones (though preference is now to text)

Long pauses and delays imply a person may not really be that interested/has a zillion others on the go/has contacted you as a fall-back/is trying to play at being cool (in which case they are being fake). If a woman is interested in you, they are generally flattered by a guy showing their interest (as long as you don't go over the top and appear like a pervy stalker). Immediate contact is only annoying if they didn't have the heart to tell you to piss off at the time.

Personally I hate texts its only one level up from e-mail, if you like someone, then simply take time out to give them a call, say something nice, make them laugh and make them feel special.

I typed a lenghty reply to this last night and then due to a moment of ham fistedness deleted the fookin lot and then got distracted so i didn't retype it so here is the shorter version.
We chatted about the E Mail thing when we saw the advice given and yes we did exchange E Mail addys before anything else but that is only due to the circumstances we met under (on line) In any other situation we wouldn't dream of using E Mail as first point of contact it just wouldn't even enter into our minds.
I genuinely couldn't see my self walking up to some one in a bar or club and asking for their E Mail, not unless something had cropped up in conversation where I had offered to forward some information or a file prehaps. But as a first aproach, 'give us your E Mail addy' just doesn't ring right for me.
