We need advice on setting up a munch!!

Hi,
Me and the wife were thinking of setting up a munch for the Portsmouth/Southampton area as there never seem to be any advertised in here - any advice on location, settings or general good ideas would be much appreciated.

Have you been to a munch yourselves yet?
Only asking as you are very new and you may need to attend a few to realise what a massive job it is......

In all fairness to you, you have only been members for a very short time and a munch needs to be organised by known people who are aware of all the rules surrounding munches.
A good munch takes months to plan, you need a good venue that won't have a problem holding a party for swingers, you need to obtain accommodation lists for people wishing to stay over, then you must consider the following: public transportation details, directions, car parking, munch badges, a DJ, door staff, any fun events that will happen during the evening (snog auctions etc)
Your best bet is to find someone in your area who is a long serving SH member and will not mind assisting you in planning the Munch. I firmly believe that munches should be organised by members local to the area in which it is being held as they will already know the local geographics / demographics.

We arrange parties in winchester regularly and are planing a munch on the isle of wight later in the year.
As the others have said attend a munch/party yourselfs and also get yourselfs known by a few people before you try and arrange a munch that way you are more likely to get people showing interest.

Thanks very much guys, we haven't attended one yet and thought that it was just like a house party!! I think we will need to attend a few and get some serious homwork done! Thanx for your help so far! What usually goes on at a munch then?Apart from the obvious!!

NOT the obvious... it's apurelysocial event to ease newbies into the swinging world... and meet people from SH... and not frighten the b'jeezus outta you....

I did a Portsmouth mini munch, worked quite well smile

We always planned to do a bigger one, but never did rolleyes

So once you settled in, been to a few, and still feel mad enough to organise one drop me a PM :)

If you check back at the link that Sarah and Wishmaster have given you, you will get a comprehensive rundown of everything about munches. And it's maybe not quite what you think! lol

OK! First of all big thanx to Sarah for all of her help and advice - sorry to disappoint but we'll wait till we are more established on the site and know a few more people before we organise a munch! We thought that a munch was more of an active event rather than a social gathering. Tallnhairy when we do get round to sorting one out (although possibly not for a while) we will give you a PM.
