Web cam thicko

This is a whinge :roll:
Just bought a web cam, it is working fine, it takes pics and vids that I can send to myself by email, therefore I assume it is connected OK.... anyways, when I try to "start my web cam" using messenger it says my cam isn't connected.
Never done this before, getting pissed off, what's going on????
Can any web cammers out there help me?

you definately downloaded all the drivers so it can be used as a webcam.. I had this problem with mine and that was the answer?!? confused

Its not you ( i dont think anyway!!) try fiddling with your settings on for the webcam see if that helps, mine used to work fine on then for some reason wouldnt?? but still worked ok with its own programme and with msn. Got it working now i think it was soemthing to do with the settings in , maybe change it to function as a supernode or just try reconnecting it again!!
webcams can be a bit fickle! confused

Not an expert but I think it might be worthwhile re-installing messenger now that you've got the cam installed etc.

also check in your im settings for webcam to make sure you got the webcam properly selected!!
If theres anything I can do to help just pm me smile

Make sure you're not running anyother programe that is using the webcam. Even your email programe might be conected to it. Try closing all runing programs, unplug your cam, launch then plug the cam back in. It works for me confused

There's a bug in one of the versions of Messenger which buggers up web cams. You need to uninstall Messenger (using Add & Remove Programs), restart your PC then download and install the latest version.

We can get our cam going but not with audio, audio works separate but can't do both, anybody else got this problem? dunno

Thanks guys - it's working!
I re-installed , fiddled a bit, turned off all my other programs, restarted my PC and it's working now!!!!

I thnk the only way i can get audio on msn is to use a mic even though my camera picks up sound it only uses this feature when using the programme it came with to make videos with the cam! Otherwise I havent a clue? Mines a labtec something or other!
