Are you married?
Would you ever get married?
What was your wedding day like? or how do you imagine/want it to be?
Did you have the best day ever or did you have a wedding day disaster?
Did you go the whole hog and spend an obscene amount on your wedding day? or did you keep it simple and affordable, but good all the same?
My Wedding
As we have been together for such a long time already, we dont really see the point of splashing the cash on a big massive wedding. It could be put to better use for us.
Registry office for us, with a few family and friends, nice flowers, pretty outfits for me and the kids, take some nice pictures and then off to our local boozer lol for a right old knees up  Perfick biggrin

We are getting married next june and by then we would have been together nearly 10 years . So like you we refuse to splash the cash on a huge fancy do. We are however getting married in a church but we are doing a hog roast instead of a flouncy sit down dinner. I`ve already picked and ordered my dress and im just so excited. :thrilled:

That's what we did (except we didn't have kids) and it was perfect! :D
Good luck with it and best wishes to you both.
we met in tenby in june 4 years ago..him on stag do her on girls wkend...we been to same place every year at same time since....next year on our 5th anniversary we getting married in tenby on exactly same day we met lol
Our wedding day was shite, and my outfit was unmentionable!
We had recently pondered at great length renewing our vows, and making it special- with people we wanted to be there.
Recent changes in circumstances have taken the shine off the idea though.
But Lou, your ideas sound wonderful, and when it happens my PM box will be awaiting piccies! wink
We had a registry office wedding with just close family and friends, then back to our house for some snap biggrin
My dress was in a sale and cost a pricely wink I think the whole wedding cost us £350 in total :lol2: I got some ready iced cakes from M & S and decorated them myself, I did all the catering and a close friend took our pictures which are just as good as a professional :D
Neither of us look anything now like we did then and it's only 7 years ago :giggle:
For us it was the perfect day... :inlove:
We did the full church wedding thing but we only had 12 weeks to plan. It was small, about 50 in the day, 80 in the evening but it was lovely.
We'd brought a house but when my parents asked if we were getting married, we just couldn't afford it. They offered to pay for it all and throw in a holiday, how could we refuse? :lol2:
My dress cost my Dad about £120 which wasn't bad 18 years ago lol
Cake was £74, funny how I still remember confused
We were driven around in an extended Jag. We often laugh about it because the driver had to stop quickly and Ian slid down the leather chairs onto the floor and I couldn't stop laughing :lol2:
We both forgot to take money and waking up the next morning in the hotel, I realised I didn't even have a hair brush or comb :lol2:
My first wedding was a farce with people there I had to invite that I didn't know as my parents were paying. Big 'do' with all the trimmings, two years down the line 'divorce'. rolleyes
My second wedding was completely different, a very informal meal with only 50 FRIENDS of ours, lots to eat and drink and a stroll along the beach, very relaxing very much the day for the two of us, very much in love - still are to this day.
If I had the chance to do the latter all over again I would lol
Well mine was the whole nine yards, top & tails reception in a country house, was a lot of fun and i can stil remember it today. Lots of friends and family and not one thing went wrong, the only thing we would have changed thinking back was we left then came back by another entrance so people did not know we were staying there. We could see our friends downstairs drinking and although we were having fun i think we both agreed afterwards we should have joined them.
If I do it again rolleyes it will just be a big party or a beach wedding with party afterwards back home.
have fun  cool
our wedding day was lovely, May bank holiday the weather was perfect, we were married in the local registar office. All ours was planned in 12 weeks we weren't supposed to be married until October but Dave got drafted to Scotland, so we decided why not we would get a married quarter out of it, all his work mates and his parents thought I must have been pregnant as all happened so quickly, I hasten to add that wasn't the case as we were married in 1991 and our daughter wasn't born until 1997 lol.......
our day was so wonderful I would love to renew vows but Dave not up for it at the moment....
The best bit I remember is bringing the traffic to a holt, Dave in the Navy and I come from Glos not many Navy here, so him and his best man stood by the side of the road, stopped traffic biggrin
my wedding pics taken in local park, we are stood on a carpet of daisies, couldn't have asked for better and 16yrs later we still going strong lol
I'd rather spend the money on an extended honeymoon!
I've never been a fan of weddings, so ours would have to be different from the norm, we've always said that our first dance will be something out of the ordinary-have you seen some of the youtube first dance videos when people do mjs 'thriller' etc? V funny!
No church for me either as I'm not religious, maybe we'll go for a vegas wedding?!
m xx
we were married at the registry office - a lovely day apart from I couldn't stop shaking & eventually my garter fell down as I said I do lol
Everyone thought it was nerves at first however, when I collapsed after the service I was taken to hospital where they diagnosed me having viral meningitus
ended up being in bed for 4 weeks sad
good luck both. Whatever you decide to do it will be special- as you are together kiss
Never been married
And to be honest.... can't ever see myself being either..
Not that i don't want to like...It's coz no1 will have me
lol
Firstly, congratulations to you both :rose:
We had a fairly tradition wedding, the church, a dress that cost far too much redface but we also had lots of friends helping out with transport, catering, even the hall for the reception didnt cost because we knew the people that ran it. Because of this we could afford a pretty good honeymoon - now that was worth it!
To make the day very personal Mr G's son (who was 5 at the time) was best man, a friend of mine sang in the church instead of having hymns all the way through and we walked out of the church to the theme from 'The Great Escape' The pictures tell it all :giggle:
It really was a most memorable day!
Im sure yours will be too Louise

Registry office here too..
Did our own catering..
Total cost including rings, food, dress, photo's was around £300..
My wedding day was pretty perfect, day after boxing day at a hotel, christmas deccies everywhere. Very small gathering - 50 or so. We'd been together 15 years so it was more a celebration of that.
Things kind of went downhill from there but the day itself was lovely and I'm so glad I did it.

never been married..( no one will have me0..hence why i stil have a deent house and more than a fiver in the bank.. lol
but if I was to get married...not being religious I wouldn't look for a church wedding. Instead I really do like the idea of geting married on a beach..with the waves lapping at your feet...the sun shining..as you say your vows.......also then doubles as a honeymon..and could have a party when get back fro freinds and family.
The idea of Marriage scares me slightly, i'd be afraid that maybe the person I'm with might get bored of me or something like that.
If I was to get married I'd want it to be with someone who loves me as much as I love them, and I could honestly say we would be together for the rest of our lives.
Brings back fond memories this one lol...
We actually got married to celebrate 25 years together.. Was going to be a small informal do, friends family etc. I should have known when she said to me.. 'you relax, I'll sort everything out babe', 'you just be sure to turn up' she said lol... Well, that was fatal eh.. Ended up with 6 Bridesmaids, 2 best men, another 6 in full suits.. Limosines to pick me up, a vintage car after, dress that was designed by some fancy tart with letters after the name a sit down meal for 60 on a boat cruise.. followed by a hog roast and fireworks with 250 there.
The best bit though.. was we had 12 swinging couples come.. in the evening all had booked into one hotel.. wow... Trouble is we were booked in another 25 miles away!!!! I mean Cruel or what lol.
Anyway.. didn't regret one bit, great day and a great night.. Would I do it all again?? Yep!!

I'm never ever ever ever getting married after seeing half my mates divorced or about to get divorced don't ever plan to do it what i big mess for a peace of paper id rather have a dam good holiday lol Works out well because my better half Bronty is going though his second don't think he'll be having a third
Our wedding day was perfect. It was a traditional big do, church wedding (childhood village) with 90 people or so. My dress was made for me and was beautiful but cost far too much, ridiculous really when you think about it. Everything was colour co-ordinated, down the last detail (anal me??)the catering was agreed down to the redcurrant sauce and my cake was exactly as I wanted it (poor woman she must have been so fed up with my exacting requirements!) Our parents paid for it all (as most did in those days), so guess we were really fortunate.
We stayed in a beautiful small intimate hotel that evening with an octagonal room overlooking fields and a four poster bed and a jacuzzi bath...I cried with happiness as Blue took 60 hairpins out of my hair that evening.
We were both working full time in good jobs with no kids so we could afford a fabulous honeymoon which really was a most amazing trip and really to this day was our best holiday ever, so romantic and very very special.
If I did it again (obviously metaphorically speaking) I would have it far less flashy, more simple, but hey that was the fashion then, big family do's, all my friends did it.

We got married in a registry office my dress was homemade ,we only invited our witnesses, mother in law and sons, our best man was a west indian cricketer, cool .We then went back to the club where baz played cricket and had a blessing ceremony in front of all our friends and family with caribbean music in the background, followed by pictures actually on the cricket wicket, it made front page of the local newspaper with headlines "Baz bowls a maiden over "
biggrin 8-)
We had both been married befor, been together for 14 years . So we had a completely different wedding.
We had a fetish wedding,no family members, no wedding cake, no flowers, no ties .
Serious clubbing clothes , rubber, leather, pvc.
We got married in Gravesend reg office 14 guest. In the evening 72 people came to the reception, great day, wonderful evening , best wedding we ever went to.

Well Mikey kiss it was early 90's and we knew nothing else apart from big family weddings in churches...it was what everyone did and what we wanted. It was just a very very traditional village wedding.

got married in 92, and as Pink said, that was the thing 'back then' to have a chrch do with the works and a big dress etc.
my mum made my 'big' dress exactly as i wanted it from yards of thick heavy exquisite ivory duchesse satin, that i got really cheap from a tiny back street fabric shop in Liverpool. She also made 6 brides maids dresses and a flower baby dress for my 6 month old neice, and all my wedding favours too.
My wedding photographer took loads of gorgeous photos, then absconded with £600 and all of our photos (never got them to this day sad )
our wedding night....in a luxury hotel, with 4 poster and jacuzzi. Trouble was the water had been turned off due to a leak further up the road earlier on in the evening, so there was an inch of muddy brown cold water to 'fill' our romantic jacuzzi, and on the same floor as us were the winners of an amateur rugby tornament....dead loud and drunken shennanigins till 4am....in the end we crashed out, too knackered to consummate our marriage. lol
still together 15 years later....would have gotten less for murder!!!
