Did you see the color or read the word.
Warming the Bed
I read the word but then I've no imagination.
interesting experiment though but would it work if you were colour blind and why the Amarican spelling of colour?
Well both green and blue are in fact black because I`m on the PC with the buggered graphics card.....
Not sure if that was my first reaction though, and now I`m thinking about it I`ve lost the moment

Blue is in fat Brown.
(sorry Blue) biggrin :D
It`s interesting that we apparently recognise the written word faster than the colour,( No, I didn`t know that, I had to look up `Stroop`, just now....thanks Blue lol ) when in fact colour recognition comes before we learn to read...

and now here's the science bit... :-)
words only account for 7% of the communicated message - 55% is body lanuage and 38% is tone so I guess the same kinda applies here - ie - only 5% of what we take in is from the words....

I thought it was the dog which was perhaps called `Stroop`, when `Stroop` didn`t come up in the online dictionary!
I`m so glad the Google Image search came up with a diagram...... redface rotflmao

I am a little concerned at the Americanis(z)ation of our language and think it wise that we do not use words like color(where you miss out the U. Favorite and honor are another couple of examples), anything with a Z where it should be an S, swapping er and re around (theater(re), center(re) ect) or missing E's (Judg(E)ment, ag(E)ing etc) mad
Anyone caught using these Americanisations on this forum shoudl be sent to gaol!
Errrrrr.............What was the question again? rolleyes

The dog is Blue from Blues Clues, the extra colours were Reese's idea cool . The Stroop Test, which is what this thread basically about is very basic cognitive psychology, so basic that even some 1st year undergrads get it - note the emphasis on "some" rolleyes . I think it's called Stroop cos the geezer who first played with colours and words was called that confused :? :? :?
We had to look at that (amongst other exciting stuff to do with learning) in the first year of a teaching degree.

Well I am colur blind and half blind, so I just read the words and accepted that they had been written in large font in differing colo(u)rs, didnt matter if the colo(u)rs corresponded to the text
