Doula sounds like a noteworthy profession but I still can't get over the meaning of the word. Thanks for link. I believe I should start thinking about seeking such support after birth.
little gem
You had me in stitches with your careers scene. lol
If I remember correctly it was almost any career which didn`t involve me being around people. :huh:

My schooling was intended for a career in music. Either an academic one eg, musicologist, music historian, harmony lecturer, composer. Or else a practical one eg, rank and file cellist. To my regret, I rebelled and drifted for years from one dead end job to the next. In my mid 40's I began playing acoustic blues guitar. Now in my early 50's I've turned pro. (Could do with more work though-Anyone want to book me?!).
So I suppose it sort of worked out but not in the way planned for me!!!

What about the disclaimer in the signature portion? How could you miss that?!!
I think I should have been a police-person or a retail manager.
But one of my mates did it last year and it said he should be a call centre operator/manager...hes deaf!?!
Those things were truely pointless.....
Sini
There are deaf managers and there are text phones...

yes I know you can get minicoms, Im not saying that he was an incapable manager, but it is rather hard to run a whole call centre on the basis of minicoms... also - he was the one who was saying it was rather stupid.. as its not the communication within the dept .... its more the fact that it was the only option it spat out...
no other alternatives........
I wasnt trying to offend.. I learnt BSL just so that I could get to know him better and now own a minicom just so we can chat.. Unfortunatley the FDP collapsed as I used to do help out doing bits and bobs for them...
Lived in sheffield , then flew south. I went to a catholic school on granville road (you may know it) where we were all told to joint the priesthood, i did'nt and became what i am today! confused
Anyone knows where I can find an online career test? It'd be fun to see what it says for me! biggrin
Latest I`ve come across with the Jung Personality test which has career path suggestions
Take the test here
and check out the career paths etc here

Just done this test and came out as ISTJ
Possible Career Paths for the ISTJ:
* Business Executives, Administrators and Managers NO WAY
* Accountants and Financial Officers NO (tried working in a bank - got pissed off 'cos it wasn't my money)
* Police and Detectives NO
* Judges NO
* Lawyers HHMMMMMM, 50% income tax
* Medical Doctors / Dentists You would let ME loose with medical stuff!!!
* Computer Programmers, Systems Analysts, and Computer Specialists POSSIBLE
* Military Leaders Dangerous (on sooo many levels)

So I guess I'll continue swapping jobs every 2 years until I find something I enjoy
I came out as an INTJ
Possible Career Paths for the INTJ:
* Scientists No
* Engineers Yes
* Professors and Teachers No
* Medical Doctors / Dentists No
* Corporate Strategists and Organization Builders No

So not too far out then.
ENFP
Consultant - depends what I`d be consulting on!
Psychologist - yes
Entrepreneur - too easily distracted
Actor - enjoyed it at school, would rather be involved in set design and stage make-up etc
Teacher - perhaps adults
Counselor - yes please
Politician / Diplomat - would probably be quite good at this, but would rather keep my soul
Writer / Journalist - yes
Television Reporter - naaah
Computer Programmer, Systems Analyst, or Computer Specialist - too cold
Scientist - side-tracked too easily
Engineer - ick
ENTP results not included in the above
Lawyers - I have a soul
Photographers - fun
Sales Representatives - yuck
Marketing Personnel done it - yuck
Another job which would interest me would be forensic artist, or stone carver, restoring Cathedral sculpture etc.
