Serious question here, how did u percieve swinging and swingers before u got involved in the scene?
I was thinking back to a couple of years ago and how wrong I was to think that swingers were middle aged and had something lacking in their sex lives at home.
I'd really like to know what u thought
For the couples - what did u imagine it could be like ?
and the singles - did you think it was like dating but without some of the hassles?

My stereotypical swinger was based on some of the characters in the film The Ice Storm, in particular the scene where they all put their car keys into a bowl and then the females take a set out... and paired off with the male whose keys they were.

Swinging to me was the traditional wife swopping. I was searching for contact sites where we could meet single blokes, it never occured to me to think about what we were looking for as swinging until finding SH. :?

Same here. The keys in the bowl thingummy and middle-aged couples rogering their neighbours, basically. I had no idea there would be such a diversity of sexual preferences, personalities not to mention that singles were so welcome in the community - or that it was a community! The amount of clubs surprised me and I was amazed when I first joined this site.

A couple of years ago i would have never dreamed that we would be part of the scene. We were also the typical steroetypes "the keys in the bowl" lol.

I had always ttought of swingers in the full party sense. I knew about swingers parties from stuff I had read on the web, but as I was looking for a couple only I didn't see how I fitted into the swinging scene. But as I was a nosy cow I did look at swingers websites (this is going back a good 8 years or so). That's when I realised that singles were welcome and it wasn't just about parties. So when I decided to explore again last year I went looking at swingers sites only. And that's how I ended up on SH biggrin

I dont think our peception of swinging was that far off the mark really. Cant say we have had that much experience, but judging by the impression we get from most people on SH everyone just seem like everyday folk who can differentiate between love and having fun and sex with other people, or that's how we see it anyway.

Same here! Although I never gave it much thought really until I heard some stories which caught my interest then I was pointed in this direction and that was that!

we thought swinging was something that went on with well to do ppl in big cities like london and we had no idea it was happening here in the midlands :doh: :shock: .we stumbled into our first meet by reading the local ad-mag whist looking for a new car and we stumbled onto the adult contact section innocent

.the rest they say is history but we are still swinging :swingingchair: and enjoying every minute
ps this is the best swing site we have been members of in the 10 yrs we have been on the scene .cheers to the mods and the members who make this site so damn good :thumbup: drinkies
