I learned that I'm kind of O.K. with waiting for someone to die, cos I'm gonna have to be. And when me mam asks me to hold her hand while she watches her sister slip away, well I'll be O.K. with that too, cos I'm gonna have to be. I've just worked through in me 'ead what it means to be a man for me mam, and I'm O.K. with it. No, I really am . . . .
I just need to keep saying 'Be a man for yer mam Neil' over, and over, and over again. . . .
