People who dump there rubbish when a perfectly good recycling centre is 5 mins away!!!!

I work for a waste management company - and for some overtime I worked at a local recycling site and now in no particular order some of the gripes I garnered from my experience
After turning up with something heavy ( like a washing machine ) some old coffin dodger will ask for your help to lift up and carry it over to the metal pit, to wit I would ask how did you get it in the car, to learn " Oh my son helped me! " and I have to resist screming back " Why isn't he fuckin' 'elpin' you now? "
After directing someone as to where to put their paper, metal, wood and general waste find they ignore me totally and either leave it on the ground where they parked or all dumped in the general ( un-recyclable ) rubbish. Upon being challanged they would cough up the old chestnut " Well it's your job to sort it, innit? ", I would try to re-educate by saying we guide people where to put stuff 'cos we cant take time to do everybody's crap and a lot of stuff would just get wasted in landfill or incineraters. 9 times out of 10 it would solve the problem - but you might get the arse'ole that seems to think just 'cos he pays his council tax we were his personal waste skivvies, the answer of course was to say " So do I mate - tell you what, find someone that don't pay his council tax and get 'im to do it! " If they still failed to atone for their sins, you could still say " Alright mate, we got your reg number - if you come back we'll slap you with a ticket for fly-tipping - so fuck off. "
Deary me I have rambled - sorry. redface
Now come on Jim., sometimes its not always possible to take whoever helps you put the goods on to the vehicle to the Recycling Centre!!Has happened to me lots of times, we have loaded the car up and then sons or whoever have had to go off to work and ive ended up going on my own. And then despite me being in high heels staff just stand there pretending to work when we both know full well there not (OK there is one guy whos an exception to this rule)Usually i get more help from other members of the public than the staff, except of cours if im throwing something away that looks like its in good knick anc could be sold oon?????!!!!!!
That's a fair point foxy - but when they ask you for the second , third or more time that day, it does get tiresome mad
Have to agree with you Foxylady.....our local centre the staff there can be very rude i remember one guy really laying into some old fella just cause he asked for help....and i have seen them standing around doing nothing looking really mean so you feel intimidated about going over to them!
Yes Da69ve, you have a good point assuming the staff aren't in the hut making / drinking tea, skiving out of sight or smoking a bifter in the shit'ouse - I think I brought it on myself 'cos during my two months there I tried being approachable, so I quickly became a marked man - but it's only my personal impressions of the situations.

True, but the point is one shouldnt have to do so to get help , particulary at a council run, eviromentally desirable, facility!! (and im not having a go at Jim just talking in general)

Agreed but it makes a boring task more fun!
Current irritant.
The education system, who after nine years of schooling your child, tell her, when it`s time to take her options that `sorry, not sure if there`ll be enough demand/room in that class or timetable, to take the subjects which are pretty damn important for your chosen career path.
There are three food based subjects, and they are telling her there might not be room in any of them. She wants to be a chef (back up choice working in tourism). They will bloody well make room or I will raise merry hell.
Three food based subjects, but very different food based subjects, and she`s been told to put all three down to increase her chances of hitting one, let alone the one she wants. It`s a bloody lottery.
Oh sorry, did I rant a little mad

To stick my tuppence worth in ( at least ) rarely has a truer word been spoken - never a better catalyst for a flurry of staff movement and assisstance than a mere chance of seeing tits and arse, let alone a glimpse of nipple or gorilla salad / kebab

My major irritation at the moment is, like Venus, related to my kids education. SATS to be precise. I have a very, very stressed 7 year old at the moment and was told at parents evening that she is tearful in school. What do they expect when they put small children under unreasonable stress???
Add to that almost everything else that has been mentioned!
That`s the thing, my middle child has always worked hard toward a goal, and also is prone to tie herself up in knots over tests (I remember her in a state over her SATs). A few weeks ago a teacher told her that if she did badly on some mock GCSE papers (bearing in mind she is only 13) she would be put down a set, wouldn`t be able to secure a `C` grade in her final GCSE as she automatically be put in a foundation group, and therefore wouldn`t be able to get into the subjects she is looking to do at college. Not too much pressure then. rolleyes
As it turned out the entire class scored low as the paper was too advanced, but she came out in the top 3, with about 47%. She was having a blue fit until she found out that the teacher expected this kind of mark.
1. Give the kids papers for their age group, don`t intimidate them with practice papers for 15-16 year olds.
2. If you are going to intimidate them, make sure you can deliver the goods when it comes to their options!
Sorry Freckle, it`s not the teachers I blame, it`s the system they have to work with. Same with the NHS. Don`t bollock the nurses. :uhoh:
Oh, I`m sure there are reasons, yadda, yadda, but I don`t much care about those. At the end of the day, all I`m interested in is my daughter`s future, how available it is to her, and the message they are giving her. Period.
Venusxxx
Agreed Venus, if they are putting so much stress on the kids that they are not fulfilling their potential then the education systen is failing. This is not down to the teachers it's down to the pressure they are under to meet targets. I believe that the whole of the last year in school my daughter has learned nothing other than how to pass SATs. How is that going to benefit her future?

That is very sad, & just to produce some rather flawed statistics to be misinterpreted by people who don't know/don't care about the limitations of the data.. mad
People that dont pick up their dog poo!......so that my kids step in it on their way to school mad
Just thought I would get that off my chest!!!!!!

Children that tread in dog poo and walk it into the classroom. lol

The SAT's for 7 year olds aren't done under test conditions; they are done by teacher assessment and the kids hardly know they're doing them. Something wrong in her class, not the SAT's.
By the way, I don't actually agree with putting kids of primary age through testing. My own daughter was very stressed with her Y6 SAT's. She was entered for the level 6 ones, which then existed, and boy did the teachers put her under pressure. mad
I do try not to put my kids in school under any of that pressure; I only ask that they do their best. The high schools don't take that much notice anyway that I can see - they know that kids are taught to the tests. confused
Bloody hell Freckle, you spoilt the flow! smackbottom

Things that irritate me?
People who don't acknowledge you giving way to them when driving, or who have obviously sat a driving test where they needed no indicators (and I do mean men as well as women).
People who write in text speak on here or in bloody letters about why their kids were absent from school. Please note that I didn't complain about spellings.
SAT's
Dog poo on the pavements.
Litter on the pavements.
People who let their children do whatever they please, as long as they aren't getting under mummy or daddy's feet
rolleyes mad :x

Yep they do that.
I was thinking of the woman who says her 10 year old daughter is on her period EVERY week, so that she doesn't have to do PE or swimming. And I mean every week. I told her last week that if her daughter is on that much, she needs to see a doctor and that I would refer her to the school nurse. She came swimming this week, funnily enough. confused
your call has been held in a queue and will be dealt with as soon as an operator becomes available , then they play you some shit music!! mad :x :x :x :x :x :x

Aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhhhh, poor little thing!!! I used to hate PE and swimming
She hates everything else too, though. Right dozy, irritating little cow she is too.
