In case anyone doesn't know this refers to am incident where a council employee was made to remove a piggy bank from their desk as another employee of another religion (cant remember offhand which one) found it offense....
We suppose to be Equal yet where the ones who's traditions are being taken ways. E.g Children cant say Black Board or sing the song Bar Bar Black Sheep.
This is one of the things that I referred to by saying we had all gone PC mad.....

can i just add to that, in that the banning of piggy banks is totally down to our goverment and not the jewish people, a magazine interviewed the head of some jewish church (or whatever he was lol) and he said he though it was stupid and a piggy bank was not offensive to him or as far as he new any other jewish person at all.

Heed this advice Leeds lad. NZ has some great people but sometimes the nearby penguins are more interesting if you are not a rugby fanatic or on dope whoch is a popular source of recreation.I grew uphere ad in South Africa as my dad fled manchester after he got out of the navy end of WW2 and we pingponged thereafter. Been to NZ OZ and USA as well and all have their problems. You cant change the world but you can make your little corner of this one a little better. :idea:

I am certain that it wasn't a Jewish person that objected to it NN hun..... I think it was a Muslim but I cant be 100%

Yes Shireen and I agree up up to a point-but as an 'established member' and a person in my own right, don't I deserve an answer to my questions? That has pissed me off tonight-that I have not received one single proper answer to the questions I have posed. Yes I believe in freedom of speech ffs where would we be without it? And Yes everyone has an opinion which will always differ from the next person, but thas doesn't make any of us 'right' or 'wrong' just individuals.

I agree he could have put his point across better and yes it would have been nice for him to respond to your questions, but I do think (although I could be wrong) that he felt a little intimidated by it all...

I think so too, *think* it was a local council in the Midlands who asked employees to remove piggy banks and "pig related items" ( :shock: ) during Ramadan.......quite probably not at the behest of any Muslims but by someone with nothing better to do than come up with new ways of being PC!!

That's not what he said initially, but loads of people jumped on him nevertheless. Granted he doesn't seem to be aware that there's a difference between England and the UK, but I was actually referring to the strange rule that seems to be in effect here, namely that it's OK to be proud of your roots and your country, provided you are not English, and that if you ARE proud to be English, you must therefore be a racist. Rather odd behaviour for a community which claims to be opposed to prejudice I thought.
I suspect a few people are just trying to score some easy political correctness points here.

Well call me a cynic but all i can see in this thread is someone coming on, with evey intention of sparking a 'heated debate' if not actually a row..... some topics are going to achieve this end spectacularly, gay sex, 'cheating', racism and to some extent politics.
Thats not to say that some good points haven't been raised and addressed but I think leedslad got what he was looking for, essentially a fight.....
