It's pretty obvious that a lot of us here enjoy the social side of the site and are quite happy to occasionally just meet up for a good day/night out and have a bit of fun along the way. What kind of day/night out would people be interested in having? I'm looking for suggestions and if one of them generates enough interest then hopefully we can make it happen. It doesn't necessarily have to be for a lot of people and all suggestions are welcome. Something along the lines of:

A weekend in Blackpool
A day at the races
A medieval banquet
A Swinging Heaven Christmas Party
A day at Alton Towers/Camelot
A weekend at Butlins/Pontins
A night out on Canal St in Manchester
A day trip to France to get the duty frees

Anything at all really...........suggestions welcome.
Steve
Whooooohoooooo
Alton Towers.... What a great place. My fave day out
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
They all sound good.
Can't we start at the top and work our way down?

All great suggestions, for us personally we'd prefer just a one day or night thing rather than a full weekend.
Alton Towers is a good one,so is a medieval banquet.
I definately like the Christmas party idea.
But how about a new years eve do???????
Can i be Mrs Claws lol
Promise i'll dress up in a santa outfit lol
Well....... I think a medieval banquet would be fab! better still what about a Viking Banquet..... all that and pillage!!! lol
A medieval Banquet would be great, just to see the ladies dressed as wenches, mmmmmm
And like Clare a New Years do would be a good idea,if we could get a babysitter confused
Alton Towers sounds cool .... you can get some great discounts for group bookings.
Love the idea of a medieval banquet. Xmas & New Years Parties too but again we'd struggle for babysitters.
Towers isnt very far from us and Moly used to work there so if you need a volunteer to organise stuff just let us know.

Steve

You could deffo count me in for those.
I would also like to suggest

The Lincoln Castle Proms - open-air concert, probably the world's largest annual picnic.
Murder Mystery Weekend
Ferry Party - Holland and back, takes all day, don't need a passport, cheap booze.
BBQ Beach Party
Karting
Bowling
Ice-skating
Scouts and Guides reunion (You don't have to have been either, you just need a tent)

It's a pretty good central location (no doubt why they picked it) but I've no idea about prices/discounts/opening times etc. Can you get some info before the munch on Saturday (if you're still coming, I can't remember whether you confirmed)?

They'd be the staff.........hands off. You'll have us kicked out before we even get the starters. rotflmao

Morbius and I just priced up tickets for the Last Night of the Proms, but at £300 each decided to plump for the Last night in the Park ... £20 a ticket. It's in Hyde Park and We're hopefully making a weekend of it so if anyone is up for that we'd love to meet up.
It's 11th September so not too far away.
What about a Masquerade Ball in the flesh?

I'd start a separate thread about that one Calista.......you never know, you might get a few takers and it's not that far away.

Sounds good Ice Pie. Any idea on prices and where it sails from?

Oh a weekend at Butlins or Pontins :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Preferably one of them themed weekends :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
oooooohhhhh a Medieval Banquet!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Ooooooh a weekend in Blackpool :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Ooooooh Tune! Excellent idea a real Masquerade ball! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Whats Canal St in Manchester tho  ...... who cares! count me in anyway :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Ooooooooh yes yes yes yesssssss! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Well I am pretty sure they dont sail from Manchester......... so we will need a coach to the dock for the NorthWest crew biggrin
OK OK OK I've calmed down now! Sorry, but was bluddy excited when I saw this thread! :lol2:
Right, the best idea is where everyone is contained in the same area/venue. Day at the races means that people are spread out and it's not so sociable, same as Alton Towers type thing, so easy to lose people. Butlins/Pontins, Boat Trip somewhere, Medieval Banquet type things means that in the evenings everyone is in the same place to party.
The trouble with the Banquet or boat trip things is the organising, doing something thats already laid on is hell of a lot easier cos we all just turn up then..... Or are the banquet things laid on too? dunno hope so, cos this sounds like an absolute blast!
Oooooh excitement building up again  better go do another lap of the lounge bolt

MissChief, You're so fab :rose: rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
Canal Street is the part of Manchester that's known as the Gay Village. Its a really good night out.
And Steve, I'd be interested in any or all of the suggestions you gave.

Been having a poke around the net and a few places do this sort of thing, but we aren't guaranteed the place to ourselves unless we book it. There is a company that specialise in this for corporate purposes ... complete with Marquee and entertainments etc, but I can't find any associated costs and then there is the problem of finding the land etc.
I dont really mind whatever, whenever or wherever....... it will be a fab day / night with Misschief and crew! wink count me in for sure!!!!!

Harwich to the Hook and back, around 30-40 quid each if the group is big enough. Would have to shop around for the best group deal.
The high speed ferry takes 8 hours there and back. The slow one is more expensive because you pay for a car whether you take one or not.

Count me out of this one ...... total aquaphobe here and the fastcat crossing from Anglesey to Dublin almost finished me off

It would be a tough one to organise anyway - everyone would have to turn up at the right time and most of the regs are nowhere near the east coast.
I just thought of another one: Weekend at Center Parcs. The one in Sherwood is about the most accessible for the majority. Cheap if you go in a big group and loads of stuff to do.
Not keen on the Alton Towers trip but all the rest sound great. Its much easier for us to get away for the weekend than one night.
The Blackpool trip could be combined with a tip to Funny Girls, which is always a great only problem will be getting DECENT accomodation in Blackpool , without having to book ages in advance.
How about a decent dinner/dance ?

So long as it isn't in peak season (school hols) you should be OK - if not in Blackers itself, there is always Bispham to the north (only a couple of miles, or Lytham & St Annes to the south (about 3-4 miles). Prices range from very reasonable to extortionate.
Alternatively there is a chalet type place at Wrea Green called Ribby Hall about 6 mile SE.
Definitely agree that a trip to Funny Girls is well worth the effort - it's a tremendous night out. Been there quite a few times and I know some of the bar staff (from their 'day jobs' as civil servants).
I'm saying all this as an impartial observer as I KNOW I won't be able to go (SOB!)

So a weekend at Blackpool Pontins with an afternoon on the Pleasure Beach and an evening visit to Funny Girls would be worth looking into?
Steve
Murder Mystery Weekend

Now that is a gr8 idea
