some replies to my dilemma from decent members of the site.
"Hi Colin,i thought i would just write to say WELL DONE.I read these forums every day and to be honest alot of these people think they own them!!!! It is a site anyone can join but if anyone new makes a comment,suggestion etc they are either slagged off or scarcastic comments left to seems the majority of people are from the north so its nice to see someone local on here. Anyway ive had my rant now !!! Good luck,hope you get something sorted out.I for one will keep on looking every day but i wont 'introduce myself in the cafe'.WANKERS."

i'M SURE THIS'LL BE -- LOCKED OR REMOVED BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS NOTHING OF THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD FORUM.
NO CHANCE OF MAKING IT HERE NOW? THAT'S HOW BLINKERED THE PEOPLE ON HERE ARE! I HAVEN'T MADE ENEMIES AT ALL, THEY HAVE CHOSEN TO MAKE ENEMIES WITH ME, READ MY POSTS AND READ MY COMMENTS.
THANKS TO THOSE PEOPLE WHO CONTACTED ME DIRECT AND HAVE GIVEN ME SUPPORT ON THIS MATTER.

Aaah discovered it now!
Hmmmm can I suggest to you that maybe you just forget all about that, draw a line under it, clean slate and all that and start all over again, here in the Cafe.
The sooner you forget about it, the sooner everyone else will and things will calm down. Continue in the above manner and this will turn into a slanging match and get locked and you'll end up feeling more than a little peed off and none the wiser.
Pur yourself a drink, grab a chair and let's forget all about that. Not everyone starts off on the right foot but that can be amended.

There are always a few sulky rebelliious types who club together in support when they spot a fellow whinger. The mods receive far moreprivate messages of support in such circumstances as these.

Your dilemma being, that people didn't just answer your initial query, but also advised on a potential outcome i.e People may not have a lot of trust in a newcomer organising a munch.

After everything thats been said I would suggest you pick your self up, dust your self off, apologise to the people you have insulted and start again.
You need to understand that no likes a wise cracker on this forum.
Stop whinging and get on with it. Now if your insulted by this then your in the wrong place.
I would start a new 'Hi I am a newbie post' and see what happens.

I hadn't seen your post on setting up a west country munch before - but I read through it following this post.
You are experienced on the site, you have been here a year, which is longer than most of the regular contributors here. You must have seen many people come and go, many munches suggested and the few that have actually made it into reality. After being a member of the site for a year, it is fair to say that your post was not made out of naivity.
Think back to all the many posts you have read over that time, and ask yourself if you are right to be surprised at the response you got.

Just a thought, but if a decent member of the site wrote that to colin, then why didn't he quote it? If they are "decent", then why would they call us all wankers? Surely that would make them particularly un-decent (I know that's not a word!). Finally, why the FUCK is this post called "what people actually think"???????

My personal view is that Colin has spat his dummy out over something and nothing, and now is trying to foster support for his daft behaviour.

I was following the thread in the "lets meet up " you just took everything everyone had to offer the wrong way! know one was giving you a hard time just offering advice from there experiences,some of the their advice was sound and it wouldn't go a miss to follow would be a good time to just chill out and start again.

I've been around here for a while now and posted probably more than my fair are two things that have always puzzled me.
people don't like the site or are pissed off with it,why do they feel the need to say so and make a drama out of it?
do those of us left get so wound up when they do?
It's a frredom of thought and expression site,if you don't like it then it's not for you,but what the hey. biggrin
