firstly may i say it is lovely to see you back regularly posting again you always do such good threads
we went to a gig last week to see The Alarm and whilst sat there looking at old men with pot bellies thinning hair and ill fitting tour shirts and women with sensible haircuts warm jackets and sensible tie up shoes
i turned to mr b and said "i do hope you realise i am never going to grow up i am never ever having a sensible haircut or colour" luckily he said good and he didn't intend to either
so i guess for me old is a sensible haircut and sensible shoes *shudders*
you can still find those old shops which sell all that gear. gowns, housecoats and 'ladies belts', they often look very similar wherever you go across the country.
Lol the alarm leeds uni 1983.
I dont consider myself old. I am alarmed by the increasing appearance of secondary hair as one ages.
at 25 the shoulder hairs were mildly irritating
at 35 the nasal hairs were an inconvenience
at 45 ear hairs just take the biscuit.
I fear for the future and suspect little tufts on the top of my nose will appear next.
I believe youth is a function of outlook. My father in law is 65 and has the outlook and dynamism of a 30 yr old.
Talking to the telly as though it can hear you..... screams old to me, i have to fight the urge to do it all the time.
as for the nasal hair trimmers i have been doing that since i was 27 so that doesnt count for me i guess x
When a fit student gets in the lift at work and I give her the up and down eye and she returns the look that screams "You filthy old git"
@Kaz I am the opposite. I got drunk and spewed cider everywhere when I was young and got a hangover every time I drank. Now I rarely get one and if I do its always from cider, still.
The fact that for the first time I am older than the current Doctor Who.
I was working with someone the other day who'd never heard of Adam and the Ants. When I asked when they were born it turned out it was after I started working. That made me feel old
Little story
A few years back I was working for a company, a new lad started, during a chat he said, how long have you worked here, I said, I started here in Easter 1981, he said, oh the year I was born...........
Suddenly I felt very old
when you meet turn up smelling of lilly of the valley
Great thread!
For me no longer knowing who is in the charts,or who the cool bands are.
oh and hangovers, how come u dont get them when you are young?
Is that because you now stop drinking long enough for your body to notice?
OK I'm gone
