It sounds like the start of a film, horror or thriller, we will just have to see.
I would let him in. After all life is not a film, but I would keep it in the back of my mind.
mmmmm tough one this
having watched too many films but also read newspapers etc im not sure i would let him in, i may offer him a flask and a blanket tho dunno or maybe i would ask him to wait til i fetched the biggest kitchen knife and restraints then let him in and tie him to a kitchen chair......... if hes a hunk i might even have my wicked way with him
but seriously human nature wouldnt let me leave him outside to freeze to death in the snowstorm
If a lone woman let a guy into their home in these circumstances, in todays world you would have to be nuts and some may say IF it went wrong you had somehow " asked for it ".
Leave him outside....he should have brought a more reliable car and not one of those Skoda thingys. lol

sounds like "clockwork orange" to me. are we back at uni kaz?...rolleyes

Naw its more stephen king surely,
i do love that film tho,Kubrick is a you the one I 'save' on stage?
You'd have to let him in. Because if he is telling the truth, he will die if you don't. And if you were in that situation you would need someone to do the same for you.
But what are you doing without a phone?
Well as you've now informed the stranger that you don't have phone and he realises that you are on your own, its now irrelevant if you let him in or not...if he is an axe killer that won't stop him, so you might aswell just let him in!

This!
I can't possibly answer this as living in Aldershot, the stranger is probably safer staying in his car than knocking on the door of anyone round here. Yikes!
From watching horror films surely there's a greater chance that the person living in the remote cottage with no phone is the axe murderer. In which case I'd kill him and stick him in the freezer with the others.

I used to live in Aldershot and i'm sure it wasnt that bad when I was there.
Let him in I say, the poor guy would freeze.
Pretend I wasn't in and not answer the door.
I would let them in, they wouldnt know that I was alone, how would they know that I didnt have my other half asleep in bed as they were on shift work, for instance.
A few years ago I helped my parents to run thier guest house, and on several times they were away on mainland and I had people knock on the door looking for a bed, so I was alone in the house. It never crossed my mind to be scared.. biggrin
I'd let him in. I've never considered that being a female alone would affect what I would do. It just doesn't come into the calculations.
But if I'm as remote at suggested I would probably make him do some wood chopping etc to pay for his keep. biggrin

Thanks to all who have answered so far.
i wonder how much those who wouldnt answer are affected by films rather than real life risk?
..or by the news, so few stories spread over the front page and on every news bulletin.

Being a Manc I'd go with this one too. :lol2:
Or tell him there's a shovel round the back and he's more than welcome to build an ig (probably won't have time to build the 'loo' as well :giggle:  , so he'll have to dig a hole :lol2: ).
