Welcome to the forum, what aspect of chatting do you think has gone downhill here?
If you mean Chat..yes its a bit quiet at the moment...but thats to do with a number of factors.....one was the football being on the TV close to every night in last month, and also the good weather means people have other things to do and enjoy. The chat I find always goes a bit quietier in the summer. However if you look at the club meets and lets meet up, think you will find its as busy as ever !!!

Maybe not a money making site, but yes a business that needs to make money to survive.
When the new owners took over back in............ermm cannot remember now, they could have decided to charge ALL existing members a yearly fee, but they did not.
Only admin will know the figures as to how many here still have free memberships, us being one of them. They make NO money out of me at all, yet I get all the benefits of the site for free.
Can't be bad now can it? Something in this day and age for free.
As far as I know software has to be paid for.....servers have to be brought, and people cannot expect to do all the work involved for free...can it?
I get great value from this site, but to be honest I hardly use it.

Chat has gone a bit dead and I would say that Dean's reasons sum it up.
I'm in chat lots (a little too often maybe), there are always people chatting, you just have to join in!!

Rarely do I bother. Mainly as I dont have time to read posts the size of short novels or read the posts of those who are wanna be politicians. There is only one good reason to read the current affairs forum and that is it make the rest of the site look friendly

Yes the threads can be long :lol: I tend to pop in on a regular basis to keep on top of them.
Not sure about the wanna-be politicians but do enjoy reading and entering a good debate with the other friendly contributors

Can`t really tell whether this thread is about the forums, chat or the site in general ....
But if you were to ask me I`d say that the reason for the change is that the trolls are encouraged (or at least tolerated) and the fun people are banned ....simple as that...It appears to be a concerted effort but the reason remains a mystery
I am a relatively new member here, and have noticed a few big personality's have been removed, in my short time, by the powers that be, but of coarse we are not privy to reasons they were removed so can not judge
