We have been to many over the years and I used to be a concert buff, in my younger days.
I have seen queen at Wembley in 1986, and Led Zeppelin twice. But one of the best we have been too is the best disco in town at Wembley about 4 years ago. There was Chic and Shalamar to name a couple. We danced for hours..it was brill.
So what groups or concerts have you been to and really enjoyed?
Pink Floyd in 1985 at the old Manchester City ground.
The best bit was that it cost nowt as I was working on the duty ambulance. The St Johns did all the work though and only brought them to us if the patient needed transporting to hospital. No one did so I got to see the whole show. Feckin' superb it was too!
Rammstein Mutter tour Cardiff CIA 2001. Spectacular doesn't come into it! Ok, so I couldn't understand a fecking word they were singing but the pyrotechincs and stage show, together with the awesome songs and amazing sound was the best thing I have ever witnessed!
Oscar Peterson, in Manchester during July 2005. Not only was he a legend, as a jazz pianist too, I was so lucky to be seated in the front row right next to his piano! Amazing!
Live Aid at Wembley 1985, followed up by Live 8 in 2005 in Hyde Park. Not sure if a third one in 2025 will be a good thing or not. Still same global problems but the music is fab.
I'd tell you, but you'd take the p**s
1)Devo - 1981
2)The Clash - 1981/2
3)Everyone else 1979-present
P.S. a special mention for teenage fanclub and Julian Cope
Madonna - Ciao Italia back in 88
The one and only concert Ive ever been too
Off to see The Foo Fighters this weekend :taz:
Never been to one - are they good? I always assumed they would just be really loud.
I enjoy the occasional theatre visit though. When I'm feeling rich (since they shut the local one).
Ronnie James Dio - Birmingham NEC
Iron Maiden - Birmingham Odeon.
Robbie Williams - Cardiff Millenium Stadium.
Oooooh, this is a difficult one. I have been to about a zillion gigs and have enjoyed the vast majority of them becasue I always make sure I have fun if I go out...
Should I say Gary Numan, as he's my hero and I have seen him about a million times and it is still never enough? This last tour was great, and the gig on his birthday was amazing.
Should I say Marc Almond, as he's my other hero, and I have seen him about a hundred times and twice out of those he has blown me away..?
Or, Napalm Death, because they went, 'WHOAAARRGGGGAAHHHHH' for 30 minutes and people's heads exploded?
Or Motorhead, because Lemmy rules?
Or Motley Crue, because they had nudey dwarves and flamethrowers?
Or Gogol Bordello, because I could not stop moshing for the entire gig and I got beaten up by a ton of people (in the moshpit - I came out bleeding, I think... accidental injuries I am sure, but hey...) and it was amazing - as good as The Pogues for exactly the same reasons, if fact...
But really, my favourite ever gig I attended was The Cramps, on the Stay Sick tour. Because they just ruled, and seeing them that once was enough.
Kajagoogoo... dont ask. :scared:
Recently .. got to be the Who (whats left of em') and Charlatans, Wembley last year. Just went on a whim but Rock ain't dead!
Been to loads of gigs but a few stand out
The Cure middlesbrough town hall 1981
Sex Pistols london 1996
the 2 trips to Glastonbury in 1986 & 1987 ( festivals i know not just a oneoff gig ) if you can count festivals.
Ooh almost forgot... Lynyrd Skynyrd at Manchester's Free Trade Hall circa 1976. They left Freebird right 'til the very end. The crowd were going nuts.
That was a cracking year for gigs at the FTH, Genesis, 10cc, Lindisfarne, Ted Nugent etc
