Had to be The Fun Lovin' Criminals at the BIC. Who else is s Schmoove as that? Had to drive though.. Bugger! Gomez at the Portsmouth Guildhall was a good un though.
Two answers:
First, my acustic guitar hero Leo Kotke who just happened to be playing in Holland in my town and i saw the concert advertised as I did my shopping on the same day. Had heard the guy originally on John Peel's show as a kid and then (although I hate to admit it) 30 years later actually get to see him live.
Secondly, saw the Eagles in Rotterdam a couple of years ago - brilliant.
Other great concerts? The Stones in Glasgow, Wilco Johnstone (ex Dr Feelgood) in Islington, Dire Straights at Wembly etc.
Most disappointing concert? - Clapton with Robert Cray in London - just far too clinical!

Black Sabbath, saw them at Ozzfest
Ten Years After("Who?????I" hear you say) featuring guitarist Alvin Lee :smug:
Del Amitri I would so love to see Del Amitri, they are amazing
back in the good old days suzi quatro did a set at the kent custom bike show must have been early 90s
what a woman still as good as ever smile
For my tastes there are some pretty scary names here!!
I go to around 2 or 3 gigs a week and have done since my early teens (with a short break in the mid 80s when kids were young) so as you can guess I have seen 1000s over the years.
Best ever....well, too many to say really...first time I ever saw The Clash (still my favourite band of all time) in Bristol in 1977 springs to mind...but more recently Patti Smith performing'Horses' at the Festival Hall in London and Iggy and The Stooges performing 'Fun House' this August (Hammersmith Apollo) biggrin both blew me away totally.
Phew too many to pick a best of list, but worth naming a few:
REM- cardiff arms park
BOB MARLEY - kingston football club
THE SPECIALS- sophia gardens
DAVID BOWIE- cardiff arms park
BON JOVI - somewhere in the midlands
UB40 - same as above
GLASTONBURY - the 4 times i have been have all been awesome.
LIVE AID - did not pay to see this as i was getting paid to look after the back stage, but an awesome day, lots of happy memories of all the above and many more.
i am not even thinking of making a list of the embarrasing ones which i would rather people would not know about redface
Super Furry Animals in a pub the day after england won the rugby World Cup in Melbourne was pretty special

siouxsie and the banshees...royal albert hall 1983.....siouxsie sioux black leather mini and thigh high boots :P

I saw them in a community centre around 79ish I think (I wasn't on drugs....my memory has just faded after years of having to know where the homework is, what's for dinner and all the other thankless numerous domestic things that have to be remembered! rolleyes ) They were great then! And yes, she was a rather sexy looking minx
I also had a great time at a Parliament and Funkadelic concert (1979 again I think). Geroge Clinton and Bootsie Collins are great entertainers!
Hmmm I just love gigs!
One of the best was Iron Maiden at Brixton Academy in about 98 when Blaze Bailey was on lead... Met a girl ended up with her on my shoulders...said girl nearly fell backwards, giving the bloke in front a damn good thwack in the back of his head with a size 8 DM boot. Felt sure I was going to get clobbered, but instead the bloke looked round, thumds up and said just "MAAAIDEN MAAAN!" - awesome!
Otherwise, Metallica always rock....Seen em 4 times now, and still find them amazing!
Most recent big gig was Nine Inch Nails at Brixton...very good...
But then, has anyone else in here heard of Kid Carpet? went to see him at BarAcademy in Brum a few weeks ago - mad, he plays kids instruments!!! Look him up on google...
not even sure this counts as they're not a 'proper' group
Waterboys
bloody brilliant
u2 at roundhay park,Leeds in the early nineties on the zoo tv was pure quality and i was right at the front smile

Mr outlaw you saw the Allmans in the 70s????I am sooooooooooo gonna go put "Live at The Fillmore on"to console myself a little.
.
made me dig my old vinyl out!
Jean Michel Jarre in Paris summer of 1991. The seats where all facing the ceiling for the lazer show with the man himself about 40 feet up in the air over you, it was amazing.
Queen at Newcastle on the "Kind of Magic" tour
Freddie was totaly spell binding a true show man
2nd Best was Green Day this year at Nottinigham
3rd Was Good Charlotte at rock City this year
Bi-Guy-Notts
I've been to a couple of good ones over the past few years, blur in edinburgh in 2000 was good, yeah yeah yeahs at the barrowlands in 2004, James Brown put on a hell of a show at T in the park this year, saw Beck in glasgow earlier this year too which was pretty damn good.
but the best ever would have to be the White Stripes, seen them 3 times now in glasgow, once in 2003, once 2004 and last sunday. best of the 3 was in 2004, my mate lost his shoe early on in the gig, right down the front and it was wild. About 3 songs into the encore something came flying over our heads and hit Jack White square in the face, it was my mates shoe (he didn't throw it) crowd went nuts at the pahnton shoe thrower but jack just brushed himself off and launched into a blistering 8 song encore! magic! catch them live if you ever have the chance!
See too many good ones to say which is my fave
Seen:
AC/DC (twice) The Eagles (twice) steely dan, robbie williams (twice) simple minds, katie melua, echo and the bunnymen, hayseed dixie, paul weller, rolf harris, the alarm, moby, the darkness, and a few others, some different ones in there, all good smile

I first saw Siouxsie and the Banshees at my local youth club in Feb 1978, awesome experience and then twice last year, once at the 100 Club and a few days later at the RFH (from one extreme to another) ..also saw them many times in between. Siouxsie is always great..love her to bits.

Ah yes The Clash
Scene- some pub in Swindon
Time- 1977, just as the Clash are coming on stage
An excited 13(!) year old gets whacked on the back of the head by something or someone unknown and spends the rest of the night in the pub kitchen with an ice pack on his head
Both Motley Crue and Rammstein were amazing at Newcastle Areana earlier in the year.
One of the best gigs I've been to was Machine Head at Newcastle Uni a couple of years ago.
Motorhead and The Wildhearts always put on a good show.
The best "unknown" band I've seen was a new group called Binary, they played in Trillions rock bar, Newcastle last week and were absolutely amazing!
Last years "Beautiful Days" Festival organised by the Levellers - FANTASTIC.
The Specials , Alabama 3 , The Levellers then the Stranglers .
Second choice would be seeing the Prodigy at Brixton Academy just after the release of "Music for a Jilted Generation" .
I know a load of ya will think it sad but Robbie Williams live at Knebworth in 2003, it was the most amazing concert i will ever see, it was fooking brilliant! (all except Kelly Osbourne as one of the support acts, she was shite!)
The Darkness were ace, so was Moby and Ash.....in all a great day and made better by the fact the pair of tickets cost me £50 the pair from ebay!
Bargain!!!
Faithless Wembley arena a few years ago-fantastic!
little britain live in edinburgh on sunday night it was fab..................

i liked blaze but prefer bruce dickinson
as for metallica saw them at donni the following year and yes they rock!!!!!!!!!!
Wedding Present at the International 2 in Manchester, late 80's. Drunken orgy of northern melancholy and wit.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds same venue early 90's, arguement with girlfreind she stormed off (I think the goths scared her) I stayed and watched a truely fantastic perfomance.
Guns 'n' Roses, Wembley, 1992. Soundgarden stropped off two songs in, Faith no More were pdg, and Guns was three hours of top quality entertainment.
Moving down the music scale a peg or two, Level 42 were pretty good at Ipswich in 1994...!
