I built a box when I was a little kid. It had 6 sides, all nailed together, and lots of space inside.
Trouble was all I could do was sit on it 'cos it didn't open of course! redface surprisedops:
innocent :whistling:

I've built two computers and they actually worked first time when I switched them on lol and still working now 1 year later ... damn site cheaper than buying a ready built one from the shops too but a lot more stressful evil

I'd kind of discounted computers as I've built/repaired/taken apart and put back together for the hell of it more of them than I care to remember. It is, or was what I do for a living. Fair play to you for getting them to work first time though, that feat often eludes me.
As an aside, I've not found it to be a particularly cheap option unless you're after something reasonably high-end. I've built all the PCs I've ever had (well all of my personal workstations, there's a pile of half a dozen or so in the corner that I picked up cheap on eBay), but only because I wanted to specify exactly which components were in them
Yeahhhhh a set of draws from ikea lol well i thought it was hard rolleyes
!! Impressive !!!
My negative bank balance. redface
Well the manager thinks it is impressive lol
Fred
I erect something impressive everytime I see debz' avatar lol
I didn't do it - but it was such a feat, I think it deserves an honourable mention...my cavalier had bottom-end bearings that started knocking, my mate decided to swap a lump with that of a scrapped car. He found a good donor lump, and decided to replace my 8 valve single point injection for a 16valve multipoint injection model ( more power, and easier to tune the feulling for even more!!! ).
Sadly the wiring loom got cut too short and the multipoint wouldn't work - so he mated the 1.8 head with the 2.0 barrels and bottom end, with a 2.0 camshaft. Doesn't sound like much, but he had so much bother with it that when I offered to source a new loom ( to fit the 2.0 head properly ) he promised to break my arms and dismantle my car to the last nut and bolt, for me to rebuild on my own, if I so much as thought of mentioning that to him again !

Like a dream - only problems since I got it back have been wear and tear ( alternator, rad hoses, bulb ) and though it looks like shit ( faded paint on the bonnet and roof, and dirty ), itflies like shit off a shovel :bounce: :smug:
All I ever seem to build these days is a mounting pile of unpaid bills on my desk!!!! LOL
But I reckon I could do an A-level in LEGO construction,Megabloks and Playmobil........ who ever said my life was boring and mundane??
Note to self.....must get out more or start to practice deviant behaviour in order to feel more at home on SH !!! Hehehehehehehe

a 3m long radio controlled powerboat

Bloody hell, that's bigger than some of the dinghies I've been looking at plans for.

oh, and i once made a medievil torture rack...special order when i was once a welder.

That sounds interesting (from a technical POV), was it for a museum/tourist attraction or something more kinky? I've often wondered if there was much of a market for that kind of thing.
the powder boat was driven by 2 40cc strimmer engines.
it was for off shore rc racing...it was sold to a gent in france..it's a lot bigger thing over there, it didnt quite take off in this country...shame..it was good fun.
the torture rack was made for a club in london....shame i didnt get to install it wink

I built a bridge once.
I'm so hopeless at construction that when I successfully assembled a bookcase from IKEA I felt like the king of the world!

Ohhhh you are so modest!!! rolleyes
Not just any ol bridge but a great big huge bridge if I remember you telling me properly!! worship
Fred it ain't exactly the house I built, just a representation of it and besides the only thing that lived in it were airfix soldiers and painted woodlice that made a reasonable stab at representing vicious guard dogs, admittedly they kinda just mooched around doing what they felt like, but it satisfied me at the time.
I kinda think now that painting them with acrylic dabs of paint, so I knew which was the good woodlice and which were the bad woodlice, might have been a bit cruel, cos they couldn't curl themselves up once they had dried, but they seemed happy enough whilst on patrol and I'm just guessing, but being a grey woodlice and getting a new coat of brilliant red or a striking cobalt blue, might just have added a bit of glamour to an otherwise dull life.

tune ain't exactly telling the whole story missy. Factually he is right, he did build a bridge, I've seen it, but I still don't think sticking a plaster, on the nose bit of a broken pair of glasses, is being 100% honest.......not a direct lie, but still a bit wafty.
i'm proud if i can just get a flat packed wardrobe up for srying out loud lol
no i'm serious them things are not as easy as they look, and they don't look that easy confused
