What's your favourite word and why?

What is your favourite word and why, is it the way it sounds, what it means or a memory it envokes for one reason or another even if totally unique to you?
Mine is lascivious as I like the way it sounds it just errr rolls of the tongue lol

Another favourite is discombobulation a funny word I tend to use a lot.

I love the word bob its the shortest sounding English word in the world I think irrespective of having three letters. smile

Lascivious is just fantastic. I make a point of using it whenever I can.
I love perambulate - so very Jane Austen, "Lizzy dear, let us perambulate around the room whilst the gentlemen play cards" and so forth... (I think I should have been born in a costume drama!)
I also adore debauchery - the word that is... although the actions described thus can also be most diverting!
Erm... I'll no doubt come back to this!

Oooh, I also like susurration, a soft mumur or whisper. I read it in a John Betjeman poem the other day, describing the waves off Anglesey. Lovely lovely word & very onomatopoeic. Perfect, in fact.

That's my son's favourite word too.
I love the word cucumber, it has a certain ring to it, like you have to sing it to say it .... window sill is the same but probably doesnt count with it being 2 words lol

Some cracking words and some odd one's in there too, but hey that's what it was about.
Another of mine as I'm being greedy on my own thread is monoflurophosphate it's a toothpaste ingredient and also a long and great sounding word.

Mine changes daily - but the current one is Ma'am.
I'm in the US at the mo and all the bell-boys and staff at the hotel, and a fair number of random people, keep calling me ma'am. It's sooo cute. biggrin
