I would really like this explained to me, as I have heard this from other men also - how is it different/more satisfying if you have sex or a helping hand? In my experience sometimes it is the reverse - a quick shag which will leave me worse off than I was before, where an 8-minute wank would have sufficed!
Personally I like to be proactive about these things - purely for maintenance, I have a quick stroke before I get out of bed in the morning. It is a way of keeping on top of things: an orgasm in time saves nine! Let it build up and before you know it you'll be looking for a three-hour block of uninterrupted time for a much-needed wankfest (or indeed fuck).
