Today, I found an elderly man at the bottom of the train station steps - breathing heavily and carrying loads of heavy shopping bags.
So, I said - let me take the bags up for you. I grabbed them, took them to the top an then came down to help the guy. Hooked my arm in his, chatting away and started helping him up.
All the time he'd making funny noises in his throat (think he was still a little out of breath) - I can't understand what he's saying so stop half way up the steps to let him calm down a bit and say clearly what's up!
He eventually managed to say "I've just come down these steps and didn't want to go back up" :? :?
Have you ever thought you were doing something to help someone when in actually fact your doing the opposite?
