Help!!!
Admittedly I'm going about this 'courting' business arse about face, but I have finally plucked up the courage to ask Outdoorfun to go out with me - and he said yes! biggrin :D
The thing I need help with is where... and don't say sex clubs or Munches! evil
I did spot something but it was too short notice for him and now I can't find anything else. sad
Does anyone know of anything happening in the London area in the next week or two? It has to be something really grown up and grand - like Opera, Ballet or a classical concert. And it also has to be within the budget of someone very skint - me!
I do so want to take him somewhere nice. I want it to be perfect... It'll be the first proper grown up date I've had for 13 years...
Ta
Hxx :D

Beat me to it! lol
depends what day you seing him really. what about a nice sunday walk around Camden market..full of charachter....followed by a pub lunch and then back to yours for..well what ever takes your fancy !!!!
Can I suggest that you consider one of the many wonderful stage shows in London.
The Producers is very good, funny and clever, which I think is perfect for a first time date, failing that you should definitely try mamma Mia (Unless you hate ABBA) as its an absolute hoot and guaranteed to be a great start to any date.
Or how about a restauarant, I can recommend several good ones.
Benihana's on the kings road is wonderful and not scarily expensive, its Japanese food but with a taste to suit everyone and each meal is an entertainment in itself.
The waiters preparing and cooking the food in front of you, as well as performing tricks and stunts...
If you want any more Idea's feel free to ask, I like to think of myself as the walking time out!
Sean
Gee... thanks for taking this seriously, guys. rolleyes
Deancannock, thanks for a sensible suggestion at least. biggrin Nice idea but we've done gentle browsing around shops and stuff.
I want smart, dressing up, grown up stuff like you see on the telly! :smug:
A walk somewhere like hyde park is always nice (durring the day you cheaky things ;) )
You can go on the London Millenium eye... best to book ahead but should have no problems with tickes (ride takes an hour)... there is also the aquarium right next door... followed by a walk over the bridge to the houses of parliament... or along the thames to wherever.
Tate Modern if you want to feel all sophisticated.
I should think anything you do will be perfect... as long as you are there with him. smile
Why not just go for somewhere nice for a coffee and a chat and then just a walk wherever your feet take you!!
Spontanaeity (which i know i just spelled wrong) is always a good thing! smile
You're in Croydon, so take him out to a really really nice pub called The Beer Circus, that's run by a friend of mine. They do loads of continental lagers and british cask ales, no loud music, and no chavs. Not too sure about food, but Graeme puts so much love and care into the beer, I doubt he'd neglect the food.

Thanks, Chris...! :)
Of course you are right. wink
Thanks for the idea of the Producers, Sean... I hadn't realised it was on and I'll check out ticket prices.
Cheers, Yellowfrog... but we've done loads of pubs.
I just want an excuse to see him in his Bow Tie again - which he wore at the SMB. :inlove:
No Chav's

What the Hell is a Chav???
Sean
Why not just meet him somewhere random in his bow tie and nothign else then biggrin
Go to the zoo. Whisper Lou Reed lyrics to the animals.
What about Covent Garden on the W/E. Good atmosphere - free classical music - It's great!

... and I just checked out ticket prices for The Producers - £125!
I love him, but not THAT much... lol
Fruity, I've seen him naked in a Bow Tie...
Nice suggestion about Covent Garden... worth some thought.

A little bit more reasonable smile
This might not be much help but the Royal Opera House do some cheap tickets (link below) - I took an ex there once and we had a brilliant time. The seats weren't the best in the place but they were cheap, we got to dress up and do the grown up thing and we had a really good time. He thought I'd spent loads of money but it was only £15 per ticket!

Went to Benihana's in Picadilly a few years back, great food good saki.
Plenty of entertainment from the chefs.
Great night will always recomend it.
Cost I don't rightly know as I did not pay.
Just thought of a very cheap place to take Outdoorfun.
Picadilly tube station, plenty of stuff happening there, guaranteed a laugh or two.
Later at night is the best time to go.
All it costs is the price of a tube ticket lol
Well I thought it was worth at least.

If its dry: Walk from waterloo to London Bridge.
If its wet: stop by the local and chill out.
You cant go wrong.
PS; after the walk, go to the pub anyway.
well today the tongue and i went to...... the cemetry!
lol its true.. and i had a fab hour wondering round laughing at the inscriptions like:
elsie 54.... dearly loved wife of john
also
john, husband of above age 76
also
anne 65, beloved wife of above.
heheheheh we have swinging to look forard to in the afterlife too!
lol
not sure how much he enjoyed it.... (all i heard was him muttering about me being odd and morbid) hosty might feel the same - but hey.. its the thought that counts... so give it a try!

Agree with Camden market - brilliant place on a Sunday. Heather London is full of free events every week so check out on google free London entertainment!!!!!!! Most importantly enjoy just spending quality time together biggrin :D
what about a ride on a horse, some of the parks apparantly do this, or do something totally silly like go swimming then get some fish and chips and have a walk round the park. cheap and fun...i think?
Heather, Ticketmaster have quite a few theatre events on their website at the moment. Most of them have SOME tickets for about £20 each, although I have a feeling that most of these will be fairly poor seats and midweek. Worth a browse if you want an excuse to see him in his bow tie though ;)
it has to be something really grown up and grand
how about a pub you have to be 18 to get into those !!
loads of good pubs, clubs , shops and resteruants in london plus theres Mcdonalds if your not so posh
have fun
How about having a look at the BBC website to see if there are any free tickets of radio recording of programmes.
Go have tea in Coffee, Cake and Kink (think the name says it all)..... I understand its near covent garden (has a website too).
Or go to HowTo Enjoy, its a London based site giving details of all sorts of events.
xanaisx
PS whatever you choose to do, have a wonderful time! biggrin
