I don't mind going to the dentist, but I have always looked after my teeth. I hate going out to eat then worrying about whether I have food stuck in my teeth, have to check before I talk to people redface
I look after my teeth now but my mum hated doctors and dentists soon much lasting damage was caused in my childhood.
All you parents out there get your kids to the dentists or you could have offspring who look like Shane McGowan mad
For me it is the noise of the drill – nothing else – just the noise of the drill.
I don’t mind the needles or anything less – just the ferkin’ noise of the ferkin’ drill!
I went through a stage of needing additional shots of anaesthetic to make my mouth dumb – apparently my adrenaline levels were shooting up so high (in anticipation of the drill noise) it was counteracting the injection. I hear the drill noise and my brain anticipates pain – no matter what I consciously tell it, my natural defences override the conscious logic and scream “YOU’RE GONNA BE IN AGONY ANY SECOND NOW!”
A few years ago my dentist suggested bringing in a walkman or something similar – and bingo (well nearly bingo – I can still here the ferkin’ thing a bit but not as much) smile
In addition to the not liking the wadding in my mouth after extraction PoloLady reminded me i hate the scaler tool especialy when near my gum and between my teeth.
I think I watched Marathon Man at way too young an age
Ok have returned...
I have a humungous absiss(sp?) right on a bad tooth(or rather whats left of the tooth)...
A wisdom tooth coming through has impacted onto a molar and the molar broke off virtually flush with the gum
This was over 12 months ago redface
The offending growth has been lanced but according to the rather pretty dentist(female lol ) not a lot of "gunk" came out
So..............Now have 7 days worth of anti-biotics (no ferkin beer for me then) and an appointment for the 16th of August to have whats left of the tooth yanked...
Problem is there is soooooooooooo little of it left I can se the gums getting sliced in order to get at it properly

Well was you the only one ? I bet not lol
And good luck with the rest of the work
He is now getting some well needed sleep as the poor love didn't get any last night sad I only managed about 3 hours confused
We got to the hospital at and there were about 20 other people in the queue  As Steve said he has an absess which has caused the left hand side of his face to swell to about 3 times the normal size... He looks like Marlon Brando from the Godfather :lol2:
Unfortunately I am the same and have 3 teeth that I know of that require attention redface Unfortunately there are no dentist's in our area taking on NHS patients, and we couldn't afford the treatment anyway :(
After spending 3 hours wandering around the centre of Birmingham trying to amuse the kids, I am absolutely knackered :( I will be joining Steve for a little nap very soon :lol2:
Sleep tight Shireen and Steve
Scared doesn't fit - absolutely terrified to the point where I have to be sedated to VISIT never mind have work done. I used to go to a special dental hospital because I have to put under a general anaethstetic. Seriously, I am THAT petrified I even cry my eyes out on the way there.
Just thinking about it scares me so, nuff said.
newt xx

Simple answer to this.
1) Don't eat spinach
2) Don't believe the dickhead opposite you who tells you that you haven't got any stuck when you've given him a big smile!!

I had 2 root canal fillings in my front lower teeth without injections for that very reason.

Problem is there is soooooooooooo little of it left I can se the gums getting sliced in order to get at it properly

If removing the tooth requires an operation, I suggest you go to the maxillofacial dept of your local hospital and get it done there. It is so easy and painless to remove the roots of a broken tooth but only if done by someone specialising in such extractions. Good luck!

I would hope the Dental Hospital is well versed in removing teeth in various states of repair.

My dentist uses an anaesthetic gel on the gums before doing injections in the front. I don't like going but I make myself go every 6 months for a check up and scale and polish. I've got really sensitive teeth and even the water flush hurts redface
