Everything is invented for a reason and most things are adapted over time to reflect the current need ........
So why don't toasters hold a whole slice of bread? You have to turn it over half way through so that you don't end up with a half toasted piece of bread.
Surely it ain't that hard to make it a bit deeper?
Warburtons by any chance?? :lol2:
Their HQ is only at Bolton,
nip round with your toaster, your boots, handcuffs, and a selection of massage oils and have a word with Jonathan im sure you can persuade him to make a whole new loaf just to fit your toaster perfectly! :rascal:

Sure, knowing JW makes me really popular at parties!
No it was on the end of an advert a while back
Use the MrsLilly approach, use the grill in the cooker to toast one side fully at a time.
*the burntdone ratios is about 6:1 smile
I was watching some programme today think it might have been called the gadget show. And they were testing toasters for ones that toasted the bread all over! The winner was a Russell Hobbes one for
Best get shopping smile x
no complaints here and guess what i have ........Russell Hobbs lol
even does warburtons (nothing else compares wink )
sad to say that I recommend the tefal chappy here. Big bits of bread no problem. The nice man at john lewis sold me it when I wanted something nice and stylish instead. Persuaded me that function is more important than form sometimes, and it's cheap too!
Oh god, this is not the way to spend sunday afternoon. Recommending electric toasters. I think I need a drink. Gin. Lots and lots of gin. Now.

James Dyson was asked if he'd rather be clever and ugly, or thick and attractive - and his answer was... if a product works well but looks awful, it is less disappointing than one that looks good but works badly. lol Then again, it depends on whether your priority is to get the job or show off!

Toasted wholemeal? Wrong. Wronger than the wrongest thing in a shop full of wrong things. Wholemeal bread of the square variety is all well and good for delicate little sarnies, possibly with the crusts chopped off and filled with tuna and cucumber, something like that, but it's utterly rubbish at making toast. If you're after something in the way of yer properly robust toast-based snacks, like scrambled egg and beans and what have you only a good thick slice of Warburtons white will do.

Come on now! This is a swingers site so I'm surprised no one's mentioned Tiger Bread yet. confused
If you cut it from the middle when it's fresh you get nice big slices for your sarnies. Doing it that way means you can store it with the cut ends facing which stops dry-end syndrome, and as you slice towards the ends the pieces get smaller and fit into most conventional toasters! Sorted!

See I have this argument with my Mam ALL the time! I have to have gluten/wheat free stuff and so effectively bread is out now. My mam bless her, buys me the wheat free warburtons stuff!
Now I thought that the size of the wholemeal square was a waste, due to the size and toast issue! Have you seen the size of the slices of wheat free bread! And toasted??? *shakes head
The little bits that collect in the bottom of the toaster would be more nutritious!

I really feel for you as I couldn't go without proper white bread!
We had to try our son on a gluten and dairy free diet for a while (he has autism and there is research to say that taking these things out of the diet can improve behaviour). He had to have tapioca bread. Tiny little slices, tastes horrid and stinks!! He loved it as eggy bread though.
