Why I Dont Like These Forums very Much

I dont like:
People quoting huge lumps of previous posts.
People hijacking threads.
People turning threads into personal conversations.
New or controversial posters being abused.
People who I assume are overexcitable contributing to every thread whether they have anything sensible to contribute or not.
The fact that such simple aspects of forum etiquette are not written up as part of the rules and therefore not moderated.
Does anyone else have a opinion on this?

I won`t pick out the bits of your post that I particularly agree/disagree with, but that really is a recipe for the most boring forum in the world :shock:
what's 'quoting'?

dunno
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action. - Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember'd.
Iwouldn't go out with a "bare bodkin" in this weather, oh no.
well, these forums can't be all that bad can they?
After all... high culture on a wednesday morning... it doesn't get much better than that now does it?

Can I have some of the croissanty things with choccie things instead. Those Danish things give me awful wind :shock: Don't you remember? lol I think we'd been shopping for that new washing machine of yours that you can't use now because of all the pennie saving and we popped into that cafe and I had one. Strange how the place emptied rather quickly dontcha think? :shock:
I will send you my smalls, there will of course be a small charge :grin:
Right worktime, LP you are in charge of ensuring that none of those horrible aforementioned things happen in the forum today k? :lol: Only hijack if you really have to and only if there is a decent chance of a good ransom ;)
oh yes!!! haha
how we laughed... it certainly was a giggle wasn't it... and there were you trying to blame the machanics of the machine for the dreadfull noises... (I'm still suprised at the managements disgruntled attitude when we took the washing machine into the Cafe.. still... they are well aware of how upset you can become when not getting your own way and luckily decided to let us in, machine and all, after all, it saved them the price of thier windows in the end didnt it?
and Im not sure the parping can be wholy blamed for the cafe emptying so readily.. after all... I was carrying ferrets at the time too, remember?
only one broke loose.
happily recieve your smalls... though they may have to wait... I have work to do doncha know??!!
Like Flower, can't hang around here all day.
people to avoid, places to ... avoid and all that.

Obviously most of the previous posters don't Ben confused :?
I have seen past threads on the same subject - many of what you listed was brought up by some members.
TBH I think that most of it would be
a) a nightmare to moderate.
b) cause mass confusion on the board.
and c) fly in the face of the original ethos of this site as an easy going and open forum.
Ben... I really do not mean to sound arguementative here but.....if you really do not like the things you have listed, and you do not like the forum, there is a very easy answer Sir......stay out of them. dunno
I think that most forums operate this way.I really cannot understand why people moan about something they do not like, but keep coming back.
If I really did not like the forums as was the op's comments on the thread subject, I would not come in them at all. Seems quite simple to me.

I agree 100% with the above point.
Would love to put more stuff to back this up but it would cause tooooo much trouble within the community.
As it would mean me highlighting members whom in my view do this ALL the time.
The reason being just to get noticed.
All I ask is for members to think about this point & look at their own input into threads.
That has made my day that quote. :P
OOh i forgot to mention:
People who tell posters that the subject they have raised has been raised before.
Particulalry when i dont see how anyone would know why i dislike these forums.
Ben is a mischievous bugger just like me...
I think he achieved his objective today :thumbup:
I love the way the forums wander off the original point. After all that is EXACTLY what conversations do face to face.
Yes, some do degenerate into playground slanging matches. The offenders get a telling off from the mods worship and they either behave or it gets locked. It's a small price to pay for the freedom to post the silliness that IS human existence.

You wait 'til they (never me - always 'they') start on the quality of English on the threads bolt
