why is nothing straight forward?

i had some workmen out this morning as the lock on my patio door had broken. i thought it would be a pretty straight forward job. how wrong was i!
it turned out that the reason it wasn't locking, was because it wasn't shutting properly because the building has shifted (its a new build). the next thing i knew they'd put up scaffolding, taken down the balcony and taken the whole door out. it took 3 of them all day to get in sorted!
i couldn't believe it! luckily i was still covered under the warrentee! other wise it would have meant an expensive day for me!
plus the cheeky fellas ate all my chocoalte biccys!
why is it that whenever you think something is going to be straight forward it turns into a complete nightmare?
:lol2: That always happens to us...
A few weeks ago the clutch went in our car. Not a problem as it was still under warranty but it was 9 days before the garage could fit it in and then they had it 8 days because the technician was off sick  There were a few other things happen as well that all helped to piss us off completely :lol2:
And they wondered why we complained to Hyundai about their poor customer service rolleyes
Things are never simple in this house so you are not alone hun....
Glad you got it fixed though smile

yeah......i got that but wasn't bothered as the developer was payin for it. there might not have been anything wrong but as i wasn't paying i just let them take the whole lot out.
but i know what u mean..........normally when i take my car in to the garage i just drop it off and tell them to ring my dad if there any work it needs doing.......that tends to stop them takin the piss too much!
and can i just say aren't dads great for stuff like that.......mines a star!
sounds about right, got a classic car in my garage but it's got a minor problem with an engine part, cost of the replacement part £12, best estimate to have it replaced £1200
:censored:
 Fluck meaty what is it that has gone wrong??

timing chain tensioner. so the head has to come off (twin cam 24 valve jobby) plus the front section of engine cos it's a big old chain, which means removing the rad and oil coolers etc. think you've got the idea mad

New or used car warranty? Reason I ask is we are going to buy a car in the next few weeks 95% certain to be new now. Didnt think clutchs were coverd in warrantys cus you can wear them out yourself by bad use.

But a transit can go round Nuremburg faster than a Jag (if you saw Jeremy Clarkson last week that is wink )
Generally, classics are much easier to work on than modern machines... my, now gone  , Civic Type R was def "dealer only" thing. Even then, some dealers could not deal with wheel alignment issues.
saw one stripped down last week, very scarey. more nuts than this place

Is it only me that's thinking maybe it was something to do with hanging around for as long as possible to take in the vision of beauty that is poshkate ???????????????????????

Ha! I was thinking that!
But seriously, movement (as opposed to shrinkage) in a new build shouldn't really happen. I would see if you can get some assurance that that is the end of it. If it is consolidation, it go on over a period of time. Get a structural surveyor to inspect it - if you're not happy pay for an independent inspection and report. It may be nothing (a lot of PVC door units need adjusting in the early days but it doesn't sound like that) but better to be sure than sorry later.
It cost me £275 to have a new water pump in my MX-5. To replace it you have to remove the cam-belt. Our mechanic (who I trust not to rip us off) said he may as well replace the cam-belt while it was off.
We were also once without the Trooper for three months waiting for a new front bumper from Japan. It was at the "approved repairers" and having taken the old bumper off, they wouldn't put it back, even though the damage was basically cosmetic.
btw does anyone know if you can have sex in an MX-5? I know you can in a Trooper
wink

You can have sex in a shopping trolley if you so wish - doesn't mean it will be comfortable or any good for that matter - but it can be done!
