Is it another example of a mod imposing their own predjudices or point of view.?
It breaks non of the posting rules does it?
It hasn't been posted before. That old excuse rolled out time and time again.
Surely a mod should only lock a thread that is offensive, has had complaints about or broken the rules?
It is a current topic. Not one I wish to post on personally as I don't watch BB, but what happened to free and open forum.
If it isn't to somebodies taste just roll on to the next thread and ignore it.
Dawn, please rethink your standing on this one.
Pete
I have never seen the "site rules" in print. I have no interest in BB, think it is inane rubbish, would regard it as torture if I was forced to watch it..........however this looks awfully like a Mods prejudice showing through. A unilateral decision, surely a couple of people should have a say in something like that?
Planemike
stop bitching at the mods
as dawn said it was distasteful and she knows these forums better than a few newbies.
if it wasnt for the mods this forum would just be another normal forum and not the forum we all no and love.
so back off, sit back and get to know us all before you jump strait in bitching at the mods
mad :x :x banghead :banghead: :banghead: :x :x :x :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :x :x :x
I knew somebody would say that the mods have a difficult time moderating.
But show me just cause for the lock.
And i've been on here since 2003.
So Dawn doesn't like it.
Well nobody forces her to read it.
It is a current item with the potential to be very funny.
It is in the correct forum and would generate chat I'm sure.
If not it'll soon drop off the front page.
Maybe some people aren't as open minded as they might like to think.

As she is a Mod she DOES have to read it rolleyes
The thread was more like a tacky gossip thread rather than one that had any place on this forum to be honest...

well that says it all
newbies !
so the older regulars have on set of rules and can post with more lattitude
but us newbies just get shot down in flames
there are other threads about just that sort of discrimination, and how it should not be happening, so you go and confirm the problem

rolleyes   No more a case of the older regulars know what is acceptable to the majority...
Sheesh.... Did everyone get out of bed the wrong side this morning??

I found the post offensive.
I had one locked for some apparent reason yesterday also.
Oh well, not to worry.

I found the post offensive.
So did I
It has nothing to do with Newbies
If a member who had been on here for 3 or 4 years had put that post up, I would still have expected it to be locked
This forum isn't here to put down people, whether they are a celeb or not
NC

It looks to me that half of the people on this thread could use this rolleyes
Grab yourselves a glass of whine (spelt correctly) to go with the cheese  confused :? :?

to be honest I find the post offensive as well
but it does seem that there are some totally non swinging and stupid posts being put on by regulars that dont get locked

Yeah, BUT this is an open forum, for ANY subject, provided it isn't offensive
The forum is here for fun, not to abuse people
The Barrymore post is in bad taste and I agree it should have been locked
However .....
the reference to the football post was I think refering to mine about Sunderland afc being put on ebay. This was locked and the mod ( to be honest I cant remember who ) stated its not a football site . but as has been said it is not a film or shopping site either. These posts appear and dont get locked
I can see both points here
there needs to be some continuity
I'm confused. Why offensive.?
Barrymore and co on on BB to stimulate interest in the programme and themselves.
They lay themselves open to discussion about themselves, favourable or not.
We keep getting told this site is not a quick shag site, but more like a club or pub.
Well I bet in any clup/pub today at least one group is discussing me I'll be sat in the corner sipping my Coke.
And Ok maybe Dawn does have to read the thread in conection with the mod dutiies, but I still wonder why offensive?

It is not compulsive to only talk about swinging.
I was curious - so I went and took a peak at the locked thread. I now feel disappointed...
Disappointed that the thread was childish and crass.
Disappointed that some feel a thread like that needs open debate and is worth starting yet another stick-dabbing at the mods.
Disappointed that people are being encourage to stay here and contribute with shite like that.
Disappointed because I was hoping to read something actually interesting, after seeing some people put actual effort into complaining - obviously more effort than the original locked thread rolleyes
well said Pololady
you have hit the nail on the head
(still dont know why I cant mention Sunderland being for sale on ebay though,, as a geordie its well worth talking about !!!!!!!!!!!)
lol
I'm not sure why all non swinging posts are not locked. What's the point? If you want to discuss Barrymore go to one of hundreds of sites dedicated to BB. Ditto with football, shopping, cars, whatever....
The amount of irrelevant rubbish that has to be ploughed through on here is mind boggling.
Sorry but i've just looked at the post also and got to say it was pointless, but what worries me is that some peeps find it offensive? sorry but i don't find a male fancying a tv offensive and im amazed peeps on this forum do due to the nature of this site, or is it the fact that its michael barrymore? no point moaning over spilt beans though after all if it wasn't locked we wouldn't have this thread lol

Have you never actually read the description of The Cafe?
'General discussion and chit chat' Where does it say that it has to be solely about Swinging?
Or do you really want a Forum filled with 'I want a shag, why haven't I had a shag?' posts?

And what would you be left with?
Answer - endless pages of:
"is my cock big?"
"What's the best thing about a 3some - I want one soon"
"Do you do it up the arse"
"are my wife's tits too saggy to show on cam?"
"why do ads as for VWE?"
"How quick is too quick - cumming?"
"Are bends in cocks bad?"
"why don't people like bareback anymore"
"I have green gunk coming out of my cock - is there something wrong?"
"how do women gush?"
"is my cock too small"
"who likes tits?"
"who spits and who swallows?"
Time for everyone to count to 10 and have a group hug!
(Group shags allowed, but no Barrymore or footy fans allowed.......)
wink
All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. Seems to me. Sunderland being on Ebay isn't a football topic. The fact it's for sale on Ebay is note worthy imo. Why if these post are so offensive aren't they just removed (or does it simply make it more humiliating to leave the thread locked ).
How do you know that it wouldn't incite discussion or humourous posts Steph?
Loads of threads only get one or two responses. Should they be locked too?
Not everybody whats indepth thought provoking debates, not all the time anyway.
It was a light hearted question, and should have been treated as such.
And agreed, Dawn is a member, but with rather more power than the average member. If I don't like / disagree/find boring a thread then I just ignore it. Simple.
Pete
I agree with those who locked the Barrymore thread. Here in SH we accept people of all sexual persuasions and inclinations equally and believe that everyone should be treated with equal respect, including gay men and TVs, both of whom feature here among SH members. The post was just a sniggering, mocking, remark about a celebrity who is gay and another celebrity who is a TV, adopting a jeering tone which should be offensive to all of us.

I find the word "trannie" offensive. OK maybe i take being PC too far and not everyone would agree. I find that word views Transgender people in a negative light,. it is a word of the gutter press.
This site is made up of a community of people who are liberated, like minded and accepting of all people, all genders. For someone to post such a question using such vocabulatry is only done to open a can of worms and not to discuss something in a reasonable way.
I'm glad you are all moaning about this ..... it leaves us real swingers with a smile on our faces lol  And then some of them wonder why they cant get a "shag"... confused Move on .. Get over it.. and happy swinging
Have a read of this first
http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/main/help.html#forum-8
Think it many answer the whinging.
rolleyes
Just read the thread that is involved in this little debate!!
To be honest i think it is just a little bit lacking in a point, who cares if barrymore and the "trannie" fall in love build a house together and live happily ever after or not. To be honest to the author of the thread, it wasnt well written, bears little assemblance to any real thought or has any real point.
Im suprised it was locked as im sure nobody would have responded should it have been left. I think people would have more sense and not wasted their time.
PS for all the people thinking this may be a newbie bash, or a regular sticking up for a mod, it aint im just being honest, the thread was shit.
I'd like to point out that Pete Burns is not a tran-sexual. He is a cross dresser who has had facial surgery, and who does not even consider himself to be a cross dresser, but a person who wears what he wants. He is still intact as a man.

Thank you for that - I was writing something similar (though in my own distinctive style)and the battery went in my laptop. I can't be arsed to write it again but in short it said I found the manner in which the post was written akin to..
14 year old Johnny Spotsville sniggering in the playground with his mates as to whether Jenny Jugsly was fingered at the school disco by Brian Achne and is Baxxo's sister a lezza?
