To the recipient it also seems to mean 'I can't be bothered to think up something original and personalised for you but will you shag me anyway.'

I agree that personalised winks are better but we dont tend to answer any forms of winks or send them.

My thoughts exactly. I just delete them straight off. If someone can't be arsed to put some effort into a simple message it doesn't tell me they'll make any more effort in the bedroom
I never know what to do with winks I receive on this site or any other, like alot of people it lacks a little bit of imagination on the part of the sender, if they can't string a couple of sentences together as an introduction what are they going to be like when you meet them.
On here we have the automated response turned on, other sites we tend to ignore them as it clearly states not to send them, it kinda reminds me of the old playground thing "my friend likes your friend" kind of thing, where you don't want to make the 1st move for fear of rejection.
We tend to answer messages even if it is a no thank you...

For a "free" member who has joined the site but not yet paid the subscription they are the ONLY way of communicating with other individual site members apart from the ads. In that context, they do indicate that someone has looked at your profile and shown some interest. If you are interested in them I guess its down to you to reply with a message that persuades them to cough up at least the first month's subs so they can write a proper message.

when someone sends you a wink the system will automatically send them a message back and the wink will not appear in your inbox, to activate just select a present message on the right.
In my opinion its freedom of choice on how I respond to a wink

if you can block winks why don't the people who don't like them do it? That way they don't get bothered by them and I mean this in the nicest possible way

I thought everybody had to put up an ad when they joined !!
I always assumed they were able to fill in their profiles as well ...
Yes and yes your right. What John is saying is after that process they have no other way of contacting other members - therefore use the wink system.

Exactly !!! So if it`s the only way they can make contact .....failing to fill in their profiles and then asking someone to come and look at it to see what they think is just plain stupid !!! :shock:
I don`t want to block all winks because the 1% that have actually made the effort would get blocked too ..
So ...as I said earlier it`s not the winks that are the problem ....it`s the winkers that send them !

Unless they meant it to be referring to their photos rather than the bullshit everyone puts in the profile text?
