I have now re-acquainted myself with the sort of music I know I shall have to play. For those who asked - it will be a mixture of house, R&B, Pop and total cheese. Yes - I have "playlisted" the remake of "oops upside your head"
. Shall resist Cha Cha slide as much as I can! 
. Oh and for those who like Missy's "kinda guy" - yip - I get to play that too!!! (It's called dragostei din tei if anyone is even remotely interested). Did find a cracking recent remix of Faithless' Insomnia though!! :bounce: That is definitely going to get an outing!!
And no - I can't record it!! Thank goodness! And no - not London!! I get a London gig and I'll have a heart attack :shock:
The nerves are starting to set in now! "What the hell do I start with ?" is the question playing on my brain constantly at the moment! I have asked the cats but they haven't been very forthcoming in original ideas

Well-- I survived!!! Wasn't as good as I hoped. One MAJOR cock up when I mis-cued a house song during an R& B set, but half way through the song! Then didn't have anything to follow - so SILENCE!! DJ nightmare!!
But - people did say how great it was to have some different music and one person at least asked me to let her know next time I play becuase she loved it
And the two regular DJ's, who were tending bar, both said they enjoyed the music and came away with some new ideas. We did have a bit if of a laugh though, becuase everything they suggested I play bombed, and at least three songs I played they reckoned normally bomb for them, but filled the dance floor for me
Crowd was divided 50-50 between the hard house and R&B fans - so it was a tad difficult keeping them all happy. I tried really hard NOT to play Cha Cha Slide, but had to give in to demand eventually! :? But my new version of Insomnia went down a storm :D
Have suggested a monthly R&B night to the landlords and they think that is a great idea. I shall of course offer my services for that
Ended off my set with the song that I reckon should be the doggers anthem: Kelis - "In Public" . And yes - the lyrics are very explicitly about sex in public :P
So thank you all for your good wishes. Hopefully I'll get another chance to show them I can do it ! Practice makes perfect 8-)
Edited to say: I can't imagine what it must be like for a singer or band on stage - but what a buzz when you put on a song and people cheer!!!!! That is just the the coolest feeling outside of giving someone an orgasm!!!!
