OK, I'm feeling poorly, and no-one cares, but how can I say this without sounding like a right misery guts???? confused

Ah Bollox!!! I will just say it. Me, and the Mods (I assume I am speaking for them all - forgive me if I'm not!!) and a large number of the regs are getting fed up of seeing people posting to celebrate reaching some land-mark number of posts and then everyone else slapping their backs, saying well done and all that.
There isn't a day that goes by without someone reaching a magical number of posts, whether that number be 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 (you get the idea)
Rather than me coming on here and saying "Stop being a twat" (Well I am feeling really poorly - did I mention it???) I thought I would throw it open for discussion and see how the masses feel. :? :? :? :? :? :?
Perhaps we can set up a SH Standard Post Count Celebration Point? ( Yes I know the SHSPCCP isn't really catchy, but I'm not well!!)
In my humble opinion I would suggest 100, 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 posts as being land-marks but I would be interested in your views, so over to you !! lol

By the way, this isn't aimed at anyone in particular but is an observation of how things have changed recently, so I don't want anyone getting upset :thumbup: :thumbup:

Without wishing to sound a misery guts - I have noticed the frequnecy of such posts over the last few days and I can't see the point of them, so don't read them rolleyes

Having perhaps a sticky for such posts would certainly free up board space for other more interesting topics . . .

Up untill the one i posted last night i had always refused to post a "ive got so far" thread ( fair enought ive droped it ias part of a post someties). but i thougth well if everyone else is i might as well jump on the band wagon.
while we on the subject. why was the comments that used to be inder your posting bar removed. unless i dream of there being something there.

it does become a tad annoying at times, i agree!! could acknowledge 500 and then each thousand maybe?? would make it more interesting...... another part that annoys me sometimes is, not only the post count, but also stating the time in which its been amassed!! maybe i'm just feeling gloomy tonight though.... usually it doesn't bother me at all...not a lot does....think i might be picking up on sarge's "poorly vibes" !!!

I've just spent the last 15 mins adding up all the posts so i could so a Cumaltive Post thread type thing, only to find that the total is dispalyed on the front of the forum page!!!
last time i try and be clever!.. it just is not me
for the record its a total of 236322 posts to date!!!

I have never celebrated my post count as I see it as just a measure of how much pain I have put you lot through confused

On the other hand I must confess I was rather sorry to lose my 400+ posts when a certain well known thread got deleted .
I support the objective of decluttering the forums and therefore think we should limit post celebration on the other hand (just call me Tevi)I think post numbers indicate a committment to the site and its nice to recognise and celebrate major milestones. IMHO this should be no less than 500 post intervals.

Going back to sarge's origional point and to quote an old saying we ladies often use " its quality not quantity " Pointing the finger no where in particular and wishing to offend no one in general, I took a random look at a few random celebrations and the majority consisted of one liners mainly in the cafe.
That is fine as it helps to add to the light heartedness (sp) of the whole site but does not actually qualify for a celebration. Its great to post loads and join in but some people rack up hundreds of posts in a few weeks whereas others work slowly over a much longer period of time and dont celebrate. Who is to say which is the most worthy of celebration.
Great announce 1000 posts and stages above that but we can all see by looking just under the avatar how many everyone has posted. Sorry to all those i have offended but lets not get fixated on number of postings, lets concentrate on enjoying ourselves and getting out and getting laid.

I think the landmarks suggested by Sarge are OK, although personally I feel if you're still inclined to celebrate your post count by the time you reach 2,000 you're probably a bit of a saddo. One observation I would like to make is that people used to make an effort to say something significant in their landmark posts - something with a little more substance than "Hey look at me, I found the Submit button 500 times in a weekend aren't I clever!"
I used to enjoy reading people's landmark posts, now those posts exist purely to notify the world of their own existence, and I for one won't be congratulating the people who are doing such a fine job of congratulating themselves. rolleyes

I think the whole post count thing has got ridiculous now - there are people posting purely for the sake of getting their post count up to the next hundred for another "Woopeefeckindoo look at me" thread. It's not even as if the people competing with each other and racing for another hundred are genuinely prolific with things to say: They just look prolific because whereas other people occasionally manage to fit several sentences into one post, the new breed of post whores take several posts to construct a sentence. Posts consisting of 2 or 3 words or just a smiley are mere clutter, and I see nothing that merits celebration in that. Maybe these people would calm down a bit if the post count were not displayed in the posts themselves. If I'm really interested in knowing how many posts someone has made, I can always look it up on their profile.
