Geri Haliwell,, It's Raining Men. No love, that's water, and the Gods are crying because you're singing again...
Bo selcta - I got you babe
mad :x
Whenever I see "pop stars" like Britney or Geri, I can't help but think of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation advertising slogan for their robots: "Your plastic pal who's fun to be with". Of course the slogan is, although somewhat unintentionally, ironic.
Christina Aguilera & Missy Elliot's cover of Car Wash.
Why oh why can't they just leave them alone?
*weeps for the ghost of real music*
Westlife...uptown girl. What was the point
Ditto A1(?)......take on me
Oasis...I am the walrus
Undercover (?)...slip away and Baker Street
Oh for preservation orders on music

stone cold crazy by queen covered by metallica

Yeah baby biggrin and Whiskey In The Jar! Fear Factory remaking Cars with Gary Numan was brilliant and A Perfect Circles cover of Imagine has actually made me like that song!
Eric Prydz's use of Steve Winwood's Valerie is dire, Britney Spears ruined I Love Rock'n'Roll (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts), Jennifer Ellison's cover of I Want Your Love (Transvision Vamp) makes the original look like a masterpiece and those no talent bints (Girls Aloud?) ruined I'll Stand By You (The Pretenders?) sad
I could go on but I'll need painkillers first.

What is your worst cover version of a song ? i,ll start the ball rolling..Will Youngs, Light my fire springs to mind, pure crap !!! and the Fine young canabals totally mashed "ever fallen in love" by the buzzcocks rolleyes

What about Band Aid 20? Shit cover if you ask me (and you did)...
Chris
Couldnt agree more... and whats with that rap bit during the track by dizzy rascal??.. i mean im all for todays music but for god sake thats just shite!.
They should have just re-released the original!.
Apart from that i reckon that NEw girls aloud cover is arse too
William Shatner-" man"
Has to be heard to be believed.

Oh very well, since you insist. The worst ever cover version in my opinion is Paul Young taking the paranoid and brooding Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division and turning it into a schmaltz-fest of hairspray and spangly suits for the mid-to-late eighties crowd.

He did WHAT??????? mad :x :x :x :x :x
F**king ! evil

:violin: What can I say dunno
Im not saying anything else otherwise some clever trousers is going to point out the parady of my dislike for Busted whilst naming songs from their live set which may not , thankfully be immortalised on vinyl so to speak.
OK. I'm going to set up the Campaign For Real Music. Someone's got to make a stand against this wall of banality and mediocrity sweeping through our charts.
Who's with me?

I prefer to be a bit of a musical snob. I don't want Lloyd Cole or the Blue Nile or Paddy McAloon to have mass appeal. I like feeling smug and superior, like I'm a member of a secret club.
Nope, it's no good. I tried again to listen to Electric Six's cover of The Model...
I'm sorry, but you can't take one of the seminal pieces of german electronica, set it to acoustic guitar and have it sung by a US rock band. It just doesn't work! mad :x :x
Oi!
You lot!!
Cheryl Tweedy!!! sillyhwoar:
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you Cheryl
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you

<waves hand> ME!!! Musical Purity for all! Stop the Boy Bands and Chav Dance 'artists' Massacre of classics!
Come on you guys!! I mean I can get frustrated with the cloning of great great songs as much as anybody , as everything by Garteh Gates , Girls Aloud et al testifies .
However lest we forget its worth paying the price of a hundred cover version for the odd complete masterpiece . Without all the bad ones we would never have had the stroke of genius that was Hilda baker and Arthur Mullards cover of
" Youre the One that I Want"
......Youre the one wot I want , ooo ooo ooo 'ilda "
Electric 6 are starting to piss me off, I liked them till recently but doing a Kraftwerk song is just one step too far!
absolutely impossible to pick one cover version from the thousends of bad ones that i have heard but most of the realy bad ones are from the nineties to the present day becauce the record producers cannot be bothered to give there acts any new songs and instead give them a classic well known tune to completely to be said most of these dire recordings are done by boybands like westlife who i single out for being simply awfull and i realy dont understand why anybody would want to buy a record by this tallentless bunch of wankers mad :x :x :x but each to there appears that in todays pop world thekids have no great singing acts to remember as they grow up unlike in my generation when we had the likes of queen, blondie, madness etc i could be here all nite but the music from the late 70's to mid 80's was fantastic then some idiots call stock, aitkin and waterman came along and completly ruined music forever :x :x :x :x .as for a good cover version i like a few but i thought dear prudence by siouxe and the banshees from 1983 was excellent if u can remember it rolleyes
I don't think it's a case of the record companies giving the 'acts' of today any new material, it's the fact that the 'acts' themselves are completely incapable of coming up with original content. I mean let's face it, if you give any boy/girl band member a musical instrument to play, they'd give you a blank look and ask you what they're supposed to do with it.
So the record companies have to give them cover versions to murder otherwise they wouldn't release anything.
I say we storm the record stores and have a mass burning of shite CDs. Viva la revolution!
How about 80% of the Rolling Stones best songs ??
The entire Tamla Motown back catalogue ?

Ive just heared that G4 are going to do Radioheads Creep,, and if they win that damn show it will be their first single!!    THEY SHOULD BE SHOT BEFORE ITS TO LATE!!
