Chris

I've never done one.

He recorded a song called If, but he can't sing, so he talked the whole thing. Probably the worst record ever made but it was a major hit. Might even have been a Number 1.
DJ Sammy trying to cover 'Boys of Summer' mad (although I don't have much room to talk... I ruin it every weekend on the kareoke!! lol )

Has to be that version of Queen's We Will Rock You by Five.
I would personally like to put Brian May up against a wall and shoot him for allowing such a dire cover to be produced. No-one should be allowed to cover Queen songs, ever.

So I guess you don't like the Electric Six version of Radio Ga Ga ????
William Shatner.
Surely I need say no more?

Have to disagree with you there.
I absolutely love the original, the Doors are one of my favourite bands (we actually managed to see the Doors Live last year) however Will Youngs version was in my opinion excellent - especially when he did it live.
For my worst cover I would have to choose any & all of the tracks that the talentless bunch of w*nkers known as Westlife have covered - and they've covered a fair few.
wink

Haven't heard it yet, but it'll be crap like all the rest. No-one can do Queen like Queen and shouldn't even attempt to.
EDIT: Just heard it and my suspicions were confirmed. It's utter crap. Just heard the version of Kraftwerk's The Model too...
I don't know if this will count because it hasn't been released, but it was performed by G4 on the X-factor (obviously I was told this because I'm far too popular to be sitting at home watching TV and not out enjoying myself with the beautiful people................ confused )
G4 covering Britney Spears, Hit me baby 1 more time............. sad rolleyes
I think a rabbit in a blender could probably do a cover of a britney spears song and manke it sound better than the original. So long as the blender is only turned on low though.
edit: would look better, too! lol
I find it ironic that Britney Spears has released a 'Greatest Hits' album. I envisaged 70mins of silence... :P
zootle, I didn't mean to suggest that the original was any good, but it suited Britney, but 4 opera type singers singing that song 'opera style'.....................

Im sorry but you must be joking! I dont like G4 at the best of times and I think they have an unfair advantage. I didnt see the show but I understand Tabby was voted off.....................WHY................he was fantastic real talent.
G4 doing Britney Spears? Thats just criminal.
Oh yeah and the new Band Aid cover is rubbish to.
bolt
flapjackboy............... I'm guessing you didn't see this Saturday's X-factor, G4 did a cover of Queen's Bohemian Rapsody - again opera style - and you're right, they shouldn't be allowed to, I don't think anyone could do that song justice!!
the majority of recent covers are by the "boyband" or "girlband" catergory, it is common prctice in the music industry thses days Alot of it is due to lack of imagination by the producers/promoters and a sever lack of talent by these artists mainly generated by television shows .
as for some real bad ones there are as follows
we will rock you by queen covered by five
radio ga ga another quuen track done this month dont know who covered it but it is awfull
stairway to heaven by rolf fecking harris (aussie cu#t)
behind blue eyes by the who, covered by limp bizkit a supposed rock band that dropped the guitair break in the middle of the song rumour has it they could not master it !!
now some good ones
waterloo sunset by the kinks covered by david bowie , very good
stone cold crazy by queen covered by metallica
live and let die by wings covered by guns n roses
Click if you dare.... so bad it's good.... A medley of Radiohead songs in a Hilbilly Hoedown Style
Don't say I didn't warn you!

Granted that the FYC cover was appalling but on the subject of Will Young, it wasn't as though he was covering The Doors. It was Will Young covering Jose Feliciano covering The Doors.
I'm not a great fan of the cover and could quite possibly sit here all night with a continuous stream of bile and vitriol finding its way online. Instead, I'll leave you with my favourite cover version - The Farm's indie guitar re-working of Don't You Want Me by the Human League.
Oh very well, since you insist. The worst ever cover version in my opinion is Paul Young taking the paranoid and brooding Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division and turning it into a schmaltz-fest of hairspray and spangly suits for the mid-to-late eighties crowd.
It should be illegal for record companies to just hand out songs for new 'acts' to do cover versions of. Let them write their own material for a change and get some originality into the charts.

Turned the most brilliant of songs into a big pile of steaming shit!.Well done Paul Young, you tosser. I HATE YOU!!!! mad :x :x
I dont think i could narrow it down to just one. its very rare that a cover is as good as the original. but i do like Eletric Six's version of radio ga ga!...
if i had to pick Just one it would have to be either All Saints Under The bridge originally by Red Hot Chili Peppers or Wycliffe jean's Another One Bites The Dust originally by Queen
jgl how can you like the radio ga ga cover it is terrible
