I have just finished reading John Francomes' Back Hander.......
Wow.... even better than anything he has ever written before... gives Dick Francis a definite run for his money... and possibly wins on the nod..... lol.... it's a thriller set in and around a racing yard and race-course........
I only bought it yesterday... and have been swept along into the story from page one... until i finished it early this morning...
Now, i read a fair number of books, but this one has to take top place as yet....
What book have you read recently that you just haven't been able to put down???????

Just finished some absolute classics last week and over the weekend 
Salman Rushdie, The ground beneath her feet.
Completely insane book, great read, and probably couldn't put it down because I had to read everything twice for it to make sense!....but amazingly written!.

The last book I had trouble puting down was Fleshmarket Close by Ian Rankin, in fact all of his books are fairly gripping and easy to read.

the witches of chiswick, by robert rankin, now read 4 times,
good omens by terry pratchett and neil gaimen, now lost count....
and have just finished reading the complete hitchikers guide to the galaxy, the trilogy in five parts...for the umpteanth time. douglas adams..genius rest in peace...

I love crime stuff, psychological thrillers - Patricia Cornwell is bloody brilliant! :thumbup: The Body Farm is one of her best, but they're all unputdownable
Erwin James is probably my fave writer at the moment but the prize for read-cover-to-cover- in-one-sitting goes to Tim Willocks: Green River Rising.
Sad really but last book/books I couldnt put down were the Harry Potter novels.

Yup.. Read them all, many times over.. His latest books are always on pre-order with me at Amazon..
so far i have actually visited all the locations in "the brightonomnicom", and, funnily enpough, one of the locations is a well used dogging site, which was not mentioned in the book. :shock:

Thanks for that , i,ve only just got onto the patricia cornwell books after getting through all the patterson books in order , just finished Hornets Nest and now gone onto London Bridges

You could apply some of the traits of Aspergers to a lot of people. I've a mate with Aspergers and sometimes he can be really awkward, but after reading this book I now understand that he's not being awkward, we are.
For instance. If he has no use for something (like a pen, for example) he will throw it away. Next time he needs a pen, he will go and buy a new one - then throw it away when he's finished. He doesn't (yet) realise (wrong word) that he needs to keep his pen for when he next needs it.
My mate is very knowledgeable on subjects that interest him, but quite ignorant of those that don't.
