Hi all...
Another one if thats ok....... What are peoples thoughts on Nottingham after seeing all the bad press this last week? Are people put off meeting couples (or anyone for that matter) who has a Nottingham postcode... Do people think this is a rough town lol??

Hi,
Having lived in Nottingham our whole lives, we have never personally encountered any violence. Obviuosly it does exist, but when it does happen it tends to be only in the really rough areas, andno more than any other big city. We certainly feel safe going about our daily lives, and the press do tend to sensationalise these things!

We live here too, we had a mail from a couple who wouldn't meet us here for the fear of being shot!!! Had to make arrangements elswhere lol... Just made us wonder if people were thinking along the same lines..
We have not had any bother in anyway either, in fact we find it a great place and have done for the last 30 years lol.

i have visited it on a number of occasions with my chosen football team, and i have met a number of people off here and other sites from nottingham, on the whole it has a big downside with the drugs and crime, however every village, town and city has some problem and no doubt there are some very nice genuine people up there....
i'm origanilly from Nottinghamshire and i personally feel nottingham, like all places, has its good and rough areas, theres are some parts, which i not name 
that i think i would ber scared to walk thro at night while others are quite nice, saying that i now live in the west mids and feel where i am now if far worse than notts

i just love watching shows like 'Bad lad's army'.Well the Lace market is fantastic. Great shops and bars. At night slightly different. Well it's nice to know that all the folks in Manchetser have stopped shooting each other and selling drugs now. :smug:

Looks like the media have decided that Nottingham is the new Manchester. trouble is that it the reputation sticks and people who have never been there will pass judgement (and those that do go don't get out alive. :shock: ).

trouble is that it the reputation sticks and people who have never been there will pass judgement (and those that do go don't get out alive. :shock: ). right first off let me just say there is good and bad in every city the only reason why nottingham has come to life again is because of the shooting of a police woman which is a tragic event i have lived in nottingham all my life i was born and bred here not all of us like brian clough and nor do we speak any funnier than a scouser or a geordie.
secondly the city itself is a fantastic place to go and have a good time i wont bore you with all the local landmarks or whats on in the city however it is the same as any other large city in the fact that when you venture out into certain suburbs there is a seedier and more sinister side most of this is drug or prostitute related. i am a cabbie and over the last 10 years i have seen nottingham change so much not only in the city and the surrounding areas but in its people the younger generation have totally different values to what our generation (im 34 so you know what generation im talking about) and seem hell bent on making the place a bad place to live but this can be said about any city.
i could be here all night defending nottingham but its the same as anywhere else its always the minority that let the majority down i know some of you people who are attending the nottingham munch (i didnt get an invite tho which i totally understand as a. i didnt ask and b although i have been a sh member for 2 years have only just started using the forum so really im classed as a newbie) may ahve reservations about coming to nottingham. well dont the night will be what you make it and im sure you will have great fun both in and around nottingham.
i certainly love it here as like i said i have been here all my life and wouldnt want to go anywhere else however if i won the lottery i would be out the country like a shot
but so would most of you lot living in other cities. well wouldnt you????????

i totally agree at least the mods only fought the skinheads and left the kids and oaps alone if the bovver boys made a come back im sure the streets would be a safer place to be

I was in Nottingham two weeks ago for a meet, but once again total time waster who bottled out and didn't have the courtesy to ring or text, didn't get to see much of the place but had a good night anyway. Is it really that bad ? Was pretty quiet from what i saw - even thought about making a second pilgrimage

well im a big reds fan and yes i hate the rams and yes the nightlife here is better than derbys and east mids airport is nowhere near derby either (actually leicestershire) its no nearer derby city center as it is notts city center
