Peers must vote for the end to the sexual apartheid, that still exists in many private members' clubs, according to the Chair of the Equal Opportunities Commission, Julie Mellor.
She went on, "Lord Faulkner's bill, which reaches the House of Lords Committee stage later today, offers a sensible way of tackling women's second class membership in many private member clubs up and down the country. Many clubs have recognised that it is simply unacceptable not to allow women to have a drink in the bar at certain times, for example, and have changed their policies so that they are consistent with 21st century life.
"Incredibly though, there are still some clubs that refuse to open their doors fully to both men and women. We hope that members of the House of Lords Committee recognise the value in tackling one of the last bastions of discrimination."
Lord Faulkner's bill proposes amending the Sex Discrimination Act so that private clubs, which have more than 25 members and have both men and women as members, are banned from offering unequal membership.
Already this year, the Equal Opportunities Commission has received more than 70 complaints from people, about restricted membership of private clubs facilities.

On the subject of price, this excessive pricing, women can also play the same game as males. There is fine line on this subject, all need is one male to take one of these clubs/ venues to court and claim sexual discrimantion (unlimited compensation) against one of these clubs, and its goodbye vienna.

I see they couples & ladies nights, why dont they have just single nights, like no couples allowed? (maybe 60: 40 ratio, F:M)?

couples: £40
females: £10 + life time membership
Costs for coming on other nights whether its ur 2nd visit or 20th visit:
Guys: £20/£30 (depending on the night)
couples: £10/£20 (depending on the night)
Females: Free
