Start at the Maspalomas end, only a short walk from there (about half a mile).
While you're there, be sure to visit the Benalnatura nudist beach - it's lovely (I was there today).

does any one know if a particuler area of the sand dunes is more populer than others for fun in the sun

Yes, start off at the naturist sunbeds by xxxx, walk into dunes behind, over to your left you'll see clumps of vegetation on little hilly bits, that's where you'll find action.
So why did "kiosk 4" get deleted from my post????

I only know of one, called Petitor.
Petitor Beach is situated on the north side of Torquay, about 2 miles from the town centre.

How to get to Petitor Beach.
Drive on the B3199 from Torquay town on the Babbacombe Road, which will take you to the St Marychurch area. When you have passed through St Marychurch turn RIGHT at the small island into Petitor Road (you will see a 'Petitor Downs' sign on your right) and with Torquay Golf Club on your left, drive to the end of Petitor Road, where you can park.
Please park courteously as this is a residential area and observe the parking restrictions, as you may be given a fixed penalty notice if not parked correctly.
If you find that parking is not available in Petitor Road, please use the car park at CHILCOTE CLOSE. Entrance is from the St Marychurch Road, opposite the MODEL VILLAGE car park. You can of course park at the MODEL VILLAGE and this is recommended, as it's much cheaper.
Leaving the car, walk to the end of Petitor Road (the sea end, not the village end) and go through the metal swing gate and down the long grassy slope. At the end turn left and continue down to the beach - it's a stiff trek down.
There is also a bus service from 'The Strand' (the harbour). You need the number 32 service and get village.
