Another avid people watcher here, quite often it was the only way to stay sane during the daily commute.
Interestingly, in recent years it has even become a source of income for my business sector - going under the glorified name of Ethnography or Ethnographics..... (nothing to do with ethnicity).
Simply, observing peoples behaviour and reporting on what you saw them do rather than asking them what they think they did....

Flake are just about to start re-advertising on TV in a similar style to the original 70's ad you are looking for.
There is an ad industry 'showreel' archive but I can't remember the details at the moment.
A company called Focus PR are handling the latest ad PR and they should be able to point you in the right direction. (email )
If not, ring Campaign Magazine (Haymarket Publishing), it is the ad industry weekly mag - they will know where you can find it - if available.

My reasons for being more of a lurker than a chatter in the chat-rooms bear a strong resemblance to those given by cu3b4ll.
Many's the time I have started a conversation with people only to have it interrupted by dozens of cheesy chat-up lines &/or blatantly insincere compliments... at that point I usually withdraw from the conversation.
Just a thought though - if it was compulsory to chat in chatrooms can you imagine trying to follow the conversation of 80 different 'chatters' at a time?
