The 'free' members are what made the site viable and positioned it to be able to charge. While purely convenience items like viewing more than one cam are clearly Extras, things that shouldn't happen as they are against site rules, like directing in no-directing rooms and whispering without asking permission, should be dealt with as standard if the software allows it to be.
To say 'We are able to stop you being bothered by the ill-mannered and ignorant people who break the site rules, but if you want us to do that then you have to pay!' is almost unbelievably short-sighted IMO.

Sorry to disagree Dev old chap, but I do most strongly. Wishing to exclude other members, whoever they are, may be understandable but in my opinion is certainly something that makes sense to include in the Extras package. If the blocking feature was in the standard package as it should be IMO, couples with a little effort could filter out the ignorant and ill-mannered. To suggest that those wanting to exclude others should be allowed to do so by kicking them is devisive and completely against what I believe to be the spirit of this scene. Should you not wish to pay for the convenience you desire, try calculating what it would cost you to set up a couples-only site.

Well, I've just made my first visit to the new chatroom, and I have to say it looks good. I like the whispers in a spearate page function, and it all seems relatively easy to use.
Only one problem, I had been in there for a while when I got an error message up saying that a script on the page was causing my computer to run slowly, then everything just froze. I had to log off totally from the pc to solve the problem. Any ideas what could have caused that?

Rate that the SH server sends data to your computer in the old chat room whilst viewing one cam = ~13KB/sec on average
Equivalent rate for Beta chat but with no cam viewed = ~ 100KB/sec (often going up to 200KB/sec)
Closing Beta and going straight back to normal chat, the rate drops back down to 13KB/sec
Measured on a Mac running Firefox.
Not good for either the SH server or our own ISPs bandwidth.

Overall I think the new chatroom looks great. I love the fact that the userlist doesn't leap around when new members join/leave, and whisper tabs is a feature that I'm sure will please everyone ...except those who usually find themselves plagued with an unmanageable number of whispers, who may find the number of tabs difficult to keep under control.
With regard to the block feature only being available to extras members - well, blocking contact from specific account types (male/female/couple) is already a feature within the site itself, and one which I'd love to see carried across to the chatrooms. I'm a PHP/Flash developer myself and have worked in a commercial environment for the last 8 years, so I'm fully aware of the cost of developing these platforms (not to mention the outrageous cost of Flash comms server!) and the fact that SH need to recoup this money somehow - maybe a good compromise would be to have blocking on an account-type level available to paid members, and on an individual account level to extras? Or vice-versa, for that matter: account-level blocking is a much more convenient method of filtering, so has a higher value.
Anyway, back to tech stuff: I successfully viewed one person's cam, then tried a couple more with no response, and eventually another cam started streaming (in the first window, of course), but the whole experience was rather confusing - I wasn't sure whose cam I was viewing as I'd clicked on a few, so maybe showing the username at the bottom of the cam window would help. Having some kind of status indicator would be great, too - 'Loading/Connection timed out' etc.
Oh, and I love the pics tab at the top of the cam window - great addition! Is this only for the pics of whoever's cam you're currently viewing? I'd love to see this extended so that you can view mini-profiles of members without leaving the chatroom. For example, maybe an overlay window could open with basic info from their profile, such as their status, 'Looking for:' info, location, name, age, sexuality, and a profile pic. In fact, this could even be incorporated into the whisper tab, so you can see info on who you're chatting to straight away, without having to launch a new browser window to view their profile on the main site. I'll see if I can knock up an example
Another idea I had was to make a Flash executable version available for download, as a browser embedded flash application always consumes a whole load more CPU/memory than a standalone version, which has always been my biggest gripe with Flash chatrooms.
All in all, good work guys. Can't wait to see it come out of beta phase.

Yes I got whispered as when you click on my profile pics the first one in the slide show in the viewing window (a very nice touch that, ya can perv and chat at the same time ) is one of PK's arse. But to be honest the whispers were unobtrusive as they just poped up behindthe chat window so I could just ignore them go about my letching and close them when I got chance or wanted to. I didn't see any need for me to block them as I hardly noticed they were there.
Just one quiery, once I've viewed someones pics how do I close them I know I can just view someone elses and they will replace the previous ones but I can't work out how to stop viewing pictures

I had the same issue. I think it needs a new button to close it or alternatively, you can just click on the cam tab.
