hi,
i have just bought a new logitech quickcam vision pro for my macbook pro
it works in photobooth and wont work on swinging heaven
i checked the settings and on usb, it uses the built in cam, on dv and the other option, no preview comes up
so eveytime i cam it uses the built in cam and not the new usb one
i have tried googling the problem but cant find any answers
if i can get it sorted, i will have to go the apple shop in cardiff and explain to them that i cant get the webcam to work on a swinging site that i use -
hope some one can help - is it something to do with flash? or settings?
thank

in chat make sure under right click cam box - settings you have selected the usb cam in flash camera settings source.
hope this gets you further.
thanks for the reply
i checked the settings and had it as usb but it is using the built in cam as default instead of the new logick pro one
any ideas on how to solve this?
thanks

1 - make sure you have the correct MAC version of Flash player installed for your OS.
2 - make sure you have installed the correct drivers for your cam.
3 - logon to the chatroom
4 - Right click and select MY SETTINGS
5 - Click on the Cam Icon
6 - you should now see the options for integrated cam and usb cam
7 - select usb cam
8 - should now work
ok, so the latest is that we both went into the apple store in cardiff, had a chat with a young guy there - he made it work on msn but showing me the settings, i had to tell him i didnt really want to cam with anyone on the contact list in the shpo there and then lol
then i asked if i could check a chat site ( this one ) so he looked away - it still didnt work even after checking the settings - so i said to him, i'm going to give u an interesting story for the staff, and explained to him we used an adult site and couldnt get the cam to work on there - i opened a private room and showed him the settings - he said it is probably a problem between logitech and flash and suggested contacting them
he dealt with it really professionally and we both had a chuckle on the way out -
it would have been a turn out for the books if we had cammed in store - especialy the way mrs make cams lol
so, i have sent an email to logitech
i tried everything on the last post suggestion, including downloading the latest flash, and tried for ther drivers, but for this model you apparantly dont need them ?
so ,any more ideas, its a great cam and very clear, i only have a few days left to take it back if its not suitable

You might want to download a piece of software called "macam". It has all the necessary drivers to make your external cam work. You'll need this before the hardware can be recognized.

The answer to your problem is here:-
Just to add if the internal webcam stops working, I found this article in Macbook help
about SMC Reset and has been discussed as effective in some instances.
