Same here. There are just too many rooms to be in just one server.
I feel that a lot of peoples problems are the making of their own pc. Since I got a new one I have no problems at all.
Please at least have two servers as with all these rooms its doing me head in.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the majority of the previous remarks. Having been in the chatroom from about 9 this evening I am already tepmted not to go back due to the painfully slow speed it is running at, which makes it nigh on impossible to carry on a conversation, let alone two and a whispering conversation as well!
I welcome progress but feel from a users point of view this is a large step backwards.

The software is ok and we did run trials elsewhere before trying here, although this is the busiest place and thats one of the reasons that there are issues.
One of the reasons for doing this was because of the high number of disconnections being logged, this evening we recorded the lowest level for a long time.
The server hasn't been under too much load, sitting at about 20% with peaks at 40%, but there is an issue as the chatroom has been cycling from fast to slow, we think there's a bottleneck at network level and we have a few things that we want to investigate.

Ok have given this new format a chance but am not keen . I find it harder to find people I know , as I used to know where to expect them , and the response times are so slow.

Would you not agree though as a technical guy, that a lot of these problems are caused by members own computers? If that is a yes then no matter what you do the same people will always have issues.
There are not that many more members than us who go on as much as we do, and since I have got a new computer I have not had any problems at all. Which goes to show that all the past issues over the last 6 months have been down to our computer.
There has to be some common ground because this has been tried before with one server and it went wrong and then went back to the 4. If there was at least two servers that would be better, and the 5 minute logout was not a problem to us, as we did not have connection isues. So for us it has been working the best it ever has, but now we are having the same sort of problems, even though our computer is now fine.
Just a thought.
i personally like idea of one server....if you know room you want..not difficult to find....however as so many stated....the chat was very very slow...and something there does need to get tweeked. You type and its literally 2 mins before text appears on screen...makes conversation impossible.

only noticably noticed chat lag when the rooms were busy ... having come back this morning its as fast as normal so no probs here unless chat is busy ... perhaps 2 servers is the answer

Older computers with slower processors and less memory will struggle a bit with a Flash app like SH Chat.

Older computers with slower processors and less memory will struggle a bit with a Flash app like SH Chat.

I belong to a Poker site and my PC is quick, quick, quick. NO lag when playing or chatting. So I think the lag on here is on here!!

Apples and oranges I'm afraid. There are too many variables to make a direct comparison.
How much bandwidth is being used, how much actionscript is involved, how much is server-side and how much is client-side etc, etc.

I've just noticed another great new feature!
When you've selected a room, and clicked 'join', instead of the list going right back to the first room in the list, it now highlights your current room and puts that at the top of the viewable window. That's just brilliant! … and useful.
You clever people deserve an extra scoop of chocolate ice-cream!
