Hi all,
We are very occasional doggers (we show rather than watch). We have to say that we have had great fun on the occasions that we have done it and feel lucky to say that we have not had any "incidents" as a result.
Having said that when we got together 18 years ago, we pulled up off of a main road for a bit of "fun". We hadn't been going out with each other long and were still at the stage of ravaging each other at every available opportunity (oops - must say that we are still at that stage.....................ah hmm)!
To cut a long story short, we were "at it" in the back of the car when suddenly there was a torch light being shone straight at us from about 2 feet. It was two men and we've no idea how long they had been there watching. They just said that they were farmers and we were parked on their land so could we "move along"? We were purely interested in having fun ourselves and had no idea, back in those days, that dogging went on (we were only 20!)! Let's just say that we must have broken the World Land/Speed record to get ourselves out of there! Still, 18 years on & we still have a chuckle about it - and it hasn't stopped us!!
Anyhow, the point of this post is to comment on the Police. We've read all of the posts in this section and are of the opinion that Dogging can be fun, but that caution & common sense must be applied. As for the Police, at the end of the day they have a job to do. It seems that nobody has yet been convicted for any Dogging activity so is there much to worry about?
From what we've read, doggers generally should be grateful for the Police turning up occasionally. OK, they may give you hassle in some way but again, they may not. Having read all of the incidents there have been with "nutters", if anybody experienced such a thing themselves the first thought would probably be "quick, call the old bill". In our opinion, you can't have it both ways?
We've also read the comments about the Police not turning up if you have your car broken into outside your house etc.? Well, we have had that happen to us once (we witnessed it being broken into) and guess what? The Police turned up within 3 minutes, followed by a second car about a minute later - both with sirens blaring! Sadly the offenders got away but the Police nevertheless sent a forensics officer the following day (despite us saying it wasn't worth it as the stolen hi-fi was only worth about £100) to dust for prints! Does being polite & courteous therefore make a difference?
So perhaps just treat the Police as a possible minor inconvenience at worst, and a potential godsend at best? We've always found that if you are polite & courteous to a Police Officer (it may be hard for some people but why antagonise them?) they will be the same back. Just one day they may turn up at precisely the right time to help you out of a difficult & dangerous situation.................................?
Anyway, just our two penniworth on the subject!

Totally agree smile . Personally, I am glad that the police take an interest in the areas I frequent. If they didn't the crime would be much higher than it is already, and I have been glad they were there on an occassion or two. OK, there are some officers who are arrogant and nasty, who abuse their positions, as there are in all other walks of life, but on the whole, it is much better they do take care of dogging locations - many locations just would not exist if the police did not do their bit with crime control cool
well said..we agree with most of what you said. if the police never patrolled our site, we wouldn't stay, because its the thought of a police drive-thru that deters potential muggers and dealers...we have had differing first hand accounts regarding burgalaries...the police have their hands tied with red tape, human rights and political correctness, many criminals never see a courtroom, so the system is flawed anyway, its hard to blame police policy when the problems lay elsewhere..individual coppers are another issue, with them, as in any walk, there is the good, the bad and the downright fucking ugly!!...but like you say, treat them as a minor irritation and be polite!!
damn, looks like bluexx got to you first..hate it when that happens..but at least we agree!!...
At the end of the day (and that's when I'm out, mainly) the police do their job.
It's your fault if that job includes you.
I may also point out that moaning about "human rights" and "political correctness" is a joke.
All those benefit you...they may also benefit the criminal as well, but that's a side effect. All the "rules" that the judicial system operates under are to benefit and protect the ordinary person who (mainly) abides by the law.
In recent years it has been watered down a lot, to stop "abuses" is the excuse, and in many cases now you have to prove your innocence, but it is the way it is, to try to stop innocent people being prosecuted and convicted of offences they have not done.
I think that if the boys, and girls, in blue didnt show themselves now and again then it would be hard to go out and have a bit of enjoyment.
Just think what low lifes would be out there and what they would be upto if the police were not there to keep them away! It wouldnt be worth going out and wouldnt be safe to either!
wink
