Hi all,
We are very occasional doggers (we show rather than watch). We have to say that we have had great fun on the occasions that we have done it and feel lucky to say that we have not had any "incidents" as a result.
Having said that when we got together 18 years ago, we pulled up off of a main road for a bit of "fun". We hadn't been going out with each other long and were still at the stage of ravaging each other at every available opportunity (oops - must say that we are still at that stage.....................ah hmm)!
To cut a long story short, we were "at it" in the back of the car when suddenly there was a torch light being shone straight at us from about 2 feet. It was two men and we've no idea how long they had been there watching. They just said that they were farmers and we were parked on their land so could we "move along"? We were purely interested in having fun ourselves and had no idea, back in those days, that dogging went on (we were only 20!)! Let's just say that we must have broken the World Land/Speed record to get ourselves out of there! Still, 18 years on & we still have a chuckle about it - and it hasn't stopped us!!
Anyhow, the point of this post is to comment on the Police. We've read all of the posts in this section and are of the opinion that Dogging can be fun, but that caution & common sense must be applied. As for the Police, at the end of the day they have a job to do. It seems that nobody has yet been convicted for any Dogging activity so is there much to worry about?
From what we've read, doggers generally should be grateful for the Police turning up occasionally. OK, they may give you hassle in some way but again, they may not. Having read all of the incidents there have been with "nutters", if anybody experienced such a thing themselves the first thought would probably be "quick, call the old bill". In our opinion, you can't have it both ways?
We've also read the comments about the Police not turning up if you have your car broken into outside your house etc.? Well, we have had that happen to us once (we witnessed it being broken into) and guess what? The Police turned up within 3 minutes, followed by a second car about a minute later - both with sirens blaring! Sadly the offenders got away but the Police nevertheless sent a forensics officer the following day (despite us saying it wasn't worth it as the stolen hi-fi was only worth about £100) to dust for prints! Does being polite & courteous therefore make a difference?
So perhaps just treat the Police as a possible minor inconvenience at worst, and a potential godsend at best? We've always found that if you are polite & courteous to a Police Officer (it may be hard for some people but why antagonise them?) they will be the same back. Just one day they may turn up at precisely the right time to help you out of a difficult & dangerous situation.................................?
Anyway, just our two penniworth on the subject!
