how about the "I/my child really really need to pee" sign?
Your right 777 my sincere apologies I should of remarked at Dave-J rather than yourelf. It was an awfully bigotted intolerant comment. I sincerely hope it was a piece of unthought about flippancy on his behalf.
Reads like its having a pop at fat people to me, though I guess being i'm being over sensitive. So i'm sorry if I've read it wrongly and made anyone especially Dave-J feel anything other than really cool about the post
It all depends how you interpret the AUP phrase "Abusive, aggressive, hateful or racist behaviour towards fellow members, Ops/Mods or Administration staff".
The original post and some of the comments in my view were all of those things.
I believe internet forums need to be more like an employment level of acceptable behaviours towards others than for example that enjoyed by us in our social lives. This is because I think it helps folk to integrate in what can be a very intimidating and easily misinterpreted environment. If one person feels put off from contributing by the OP or some of the responses, that in my view is one too many.
That said those who thinks its over the top but are self assured can always respond quite appropriately in my view in the manner that Res and Lost did.
If you over moderate forums they tend to die of sterility anyway.
Yes Max I do think they are different, one marginalises a minority, the other doesnt.
And yes there are personal attacks in the thread which for the record I dont find acceptable either. That said I admit to standing up more for underdogs and minorities than for those who keen to marginalise such groups.
From what I've seen on t'inter-web, the 'fatties' among us (over BMI 22-25) are not a minority any more.
So, I propose a new political party. The 25'ers. We'll campaign for the extra-wide car bays, decent airline seats (please!!!!), comfy seats at the cinema, a better range of clothes at all shops, we'll increase the size of toilet cubicles.
Adverts for food will display in the recommended amounts - not 4 times that just to make the cereal look more tempting.
'Diet' foods will have to compare themselves with equivalent 'real' foods. (Have you seen the amount of sugars in Go-Ahead sweet products?)
BMI charts will be recalibrated to include the vareiety of skeletal frames in the population.
Doctors will have the facility to prescribe enjoyable exercise opportunities for people trying to improve their health. (You don't always need pills to improve your blood-pressure, bad back or early diabetes).
Do I get any votes?
