You may know Saint Thomas Aquinas
His writing may be accused of dryness
But there's still one more trick - 
He invented the limerick
Of all his achievements, the finest.

Seriously.  In the mid 13th century he wrote a prayer (in Latin) which went

Sit vitiorum meorum evacuatio
Concupiscentae et libidinis exterminatio,
Caritatis et patientiae,
Humilitatis et obedientiae,
Omniumque virtutum augmentatio.

The English translation isn't so catchy

Let it be for the elimination for my sins,
For the expulsion of the desire and lust,
For the increase of charity and patience,
Humility and obedience,
As well as all virtue

"For the expulsion of the desire and lust"

Damn, thats no fun

A dashing young rapier called Ice

Had hair that was awfully nice

But he keeps getting older, his pate's getting balder
