He would still be entitled to his assessed war pension, but the payment methods might be changed.
Please see for more information.
It would appear that the rules have changed regarding payment whilst abroad this is news to me and will be to my friend thankyou for your help
No problem. Veterans uk are a great support to those that have served.

Now I wonder, with 40,000 Polish children residing in Poland in reciept of child benefit paid by the UK Government because one or more of their parents are residing in the UK, would Poland have to pay his War Pension should he decide to live in Poland ?

Are you being serious Mids? The war pension your friend gets every week would be enough to buy a house out there, where the average weekly wage is around £95 a week.

Though of course I don't think that any other EU state offers as much in benefits as we do it is worth a thought.

Don't say that too loudly on here Mids. People know surely that people do not come to the UK for our benefits.............don't they? rotflmao:rotflmao::rotflmao: They come here for our weather and brick built houses. wink
cool so he is actually getting £69 more per month than the average worker Poland, perhaps he should go and live there he would actually be one of the better off instead of being beneath the breadline in the UK, AND if he applies to become a Polish citizen he could then come back to the UK and get a fortune in benefits without the stigma of being a dole scrounger in the way he currently gets labelled by many on this site and in the United Kingdom lol

That could very well be the case Mids, but somehow I got a funny feeling he would not get it if he buggered off abroad. Some people can and still get their winter fuel allowances paid to them for not even living in the UK, now how crazy is that? The best people to ask I would have thought would have been the benefits office?
It's a crazy old United Kingdom now Mids.

If that reference is aimed at me star, you should make your mind up.
Let me remind you. In one thread you say it's ok to receive it as I paid in to the system and then, when it suits another of your purposes, you suggest it's not ok rolleyes
Quite laughable really.
No, actually, it's quite sad.

Ok then GnV to finally put this one to bed, I think that anyone living outside of the UK, should receive nothing other than the old age pension. It is utterly ludicrous that people are having cut backs made to their benefits, and yet a pensioner living abroad gets a fucking winter fuel payment. I mean a pensioner could be living in Barbados in 90 degree heat and get it, and seeing as they are cutting back on everyone.s benefits, maybe they should make a start with this one and stop it for anyone living outside of the UK for longer than 3 months of the year.
Hows that then?
Your position is duly noted star.
I'll remind you of it when you change your mind next time round lol

Not sure what tax bracket you are in GnV, but I am praying for UKIP to get elected into a position of power. I would get effectively a 21% tax cut and to pay for it UKIP are going to plan a major assault on the welfare budget. Ask me if I will be bothered about potentially losing a winter fuel allowance if those cuddly UKIP guys are going to give me another 21% tax cut on top of the measly 10% just given by the middle of the road Tories. Power to UKIP the party for us rich folk and the party so clever that it can brainwash the masses to vote for them too just by broadcasting a populist anti immigrant myth.
See you on the dark side of the moon.
The UKIP must have read Mein Kampf a story about a man who used peoples begrudging, racist feelings towards members of a certain race/religion to gain power and then attack the whole world.
And the German people fell for it hook like and sinker, just like many in the UK will do.
The ever nearing arrival of another 50,000 EU members from the like of Romania will add fuel to the pyre

Did you know that it's the 40th anniversary of that fine pece of work this coming Sunday 24th March?
Timeless
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
whats more morally wrong, living on benefits for years and having more kids for a bigger house and more benefits .. or doing well and being able to afford a supercar and nice home? I have aired my views loudly here about benefits and the dwellers on them so wont rant again this post
I call being able to buy a supercar and a nice home successful and nothing morally wrong i can tell! the needy need to help themselves before anyone else can .. they are a huge waste of tax payers money and we should be far tougher in cutting them length you can get benefits and the amounts too.
If they had no benefits and wanted to live in a home they would soon find work .. we have created a monster in that system that Europe sees as an easy life which is why they all flood here to get a pad and free money too.
I hate paying tax myself as the same as your point .. its just wasted by incompetent fools who would have been sacked if they performed like they have in a Private company.
Unless unable or mental give them 4 months benefits then stop them .. of even if they did the shit jobs that help the community for their benefits. Less animosity which is growing daily would go there way if they did that i think.
Who is UKIP .. isnt that loony Galloways mob with no answers to any questions when asked about their policy. Or is that the SNP .. politics is not my thing so soz if all wrong ..

i.d be happy to pay more tax if the needy got the nelp they needed.
my biggest gripe about taxes is the blatant waste of it!!
as for making the poor poorer in favour of a bigger house or a super car id pass on that one, its called morals i think rolleyes
