Wish You Were Here (Waters, Gilmour) 5:17
So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
Sorry another Pink Floyd fan here biggrin :D

Always loved this track, we may even get to hear it live this year.
ok as this place seems to be getting more and more obscure, musicaly rolleyes
I think it is now safe for one of the OLDIES of the site to post this.
He was the wizard of a thousand kings
And I chanced to meet him one night wandering
He told me tales and he drank my wine
Me and my magic man kinda feeling fine
He had a cloak of gold
And eyes of fire
And as he spoke I felt a deep desire
To free the world of its fear and pain
And help the people to feel free again
q guitar solo (i think)
OK anyone over 35, SHHHHHHHHHHHH, lets see if the youngsters know this one.
:P
For some reason when ever I am stuck in traffic on the M25
The Road to hell comes on the radio lol
How the hell can I compete. I offer one line from a song that sums up my entire teenage years when I look back on them and you lot fire back with entire song lyrics. Right i'm off to dig out the full eleven minute version of November Rain meens nothing to me life wise but if i include th emusic sheet it will make a bloody big post. lol
full of hot air

The Time Warp
Riff Raff It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
But listen closely
Magenta Not for very much longer
Riff Raff I've got to keep control
I remember doing the Time Warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
Riff and Magenta And the void would be calling
Chorus Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
Criminologist It's just a jump to the left
Chorus And then a step to the right
Criminologist With your hands on your hips
Chorus You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
Magenta It's so dreamy
Oh, fantasy free me
So you can't see me
No, not at all
In another dimension
With voyeuristic intention
Well secluded, I see all
Riff Raff With a bit of a mind flip
Magenta You're into the time slip
Riff Raff And nothing can ever be the same
Magenta You're spaced out on sensation
Riff Raff Like you're under sedation
Chorus Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
Columbia Well I was walking down the street
Just a having a think
When a snake of a guy gave me an evil wink
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pick up truck and the devil's eyes
He stared at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again
Chorus Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again
Criminologist It's just a jump to the left
Chorus And then a step to the right
Criminologist With your hands on your hips
Chorus You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

depends what version of tublar bells, the original has a speach by vivian stanshall later replaced by john clease on the re-issue tubular bell 2003, both tubular bells 2 & 3 certainly feature sung lyrics.

I put you on a pedestal you put me on the pill.
The late great Kirsty Mcoll. New England

Actually that was a cover version, the original was by Dagenham's communist crooner Billy Bragg, being a bloke, he sang "I put you on a pedestal / they put you on the pill" which scans better.
Another nice lyric from him...
"I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them
but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you cared"
but the king of lyrics has to be Andrew Eldritch of the Sisters of Mercy, here are some gems...
"You can stand all night
At a red light anywhere in town
Hailing Marys left and right
None of them slow down"
"All the things you share are better left unsaid
When you can give me hair and run your fingers through my head"
"I caught something weird in Encenada
I’ve a brother of sorts in Torquemada"
Did i really start all this. My God i think i have found a home.

Man In The Rain
Vocals: Cara from Polar Star
Additional Vocals: Heather Burnett
You're the one who's nearly breaking my heart,
Had your chance, you just threw it all away.
Living in a world that you could never be a part of,
And now's a time to walk away.
You can't stay, no you can't stay.
You're no loser, there's still time to ride that train
and you must be on your way tonight.
Think anew right through, you're a Man In The Rain.
What's the use in hanging round these walls;
Lamps are burning, but nobody's at home.
There's a new day dawning as a cold rain falls,
And now's a time to walk alone.
Chorus
How's it feel when there's time to remember
Branches bare, like the trees in November.
Had it all, threw it all away.
Now's a time to walk away.
Chorus
How's it feel when there's time to remember
Branches bare, like the trees in November.
How's it feel when there's time to remember
Branches bare, like the trees in November.
Chorus
Chorus
hows about -
